Thursday Aug 8 TMP?

I was maybe 14ft behind you when you went off, I can comment as i saw your body position. Also being critical isn't called for. Comment, offer suggestions etc but don't be a ****** about it

Let's call it tough love eh??

I'm happy to take your word for it. Your hands look straight, or should I say straighter than mine. But everyone rides differently. And I'm not really having a go at you personally. But a crash usually starts with the operator. If you'd seriously blamed the water 100% then you'd be a bit silly. but you're not and that's good.

WTF has that got to do with anything? Someone who does a 1.20.01 has no right to say anything, but a 1.19.99 has every right? Give your head a shake will ya?

My best yesterday was a 1.21. I also ran off at 7 and nearly crashed. I hit 2 different apexes and nearly crashed. My previous best at TMP was a 1.20. I was disappointed with my own riding yesterday. But that's for me to think about and deal with.

Because I can run in the teens, and I still have tons to learn.. But you don't see me barking at people in negative manor about how they ride. Your opinion is one thing, but to harp on it is total bs

I have springs for my weight in the front, and 10w fresh oil. No revalve or fancy cartridges. Rear is a stock shock, which was never ever rebuilt. Soon to be replaced by an Elka from a fellow guy here on the forum I hope.

So the bike is likely riding too low in the back then also. I don't mean sag, I mean ride height. If set up properly, you should have a much easier time riding your bike quickly after installing the Elka.

It seems to give you the right to attack Fiery254 though.

I'm not attacking his riding I witnessed, I'm just stating he doesn't have the right, nor do any of us, to criticize someone else.

Comment, make suggestions, that's fine, but to argue with the guy is Internet stupidity.

Internet attacking is internet attacking. Now I'm doing it... attacking you for attacking him. Either way it isn't constructive.

Anyway, what do you ride to be in the mid-teens at a track day? I haven't been to TMP with my ZXR6 yet, but I ran a 1:22.6 on my old SV650.

But ya I'm done... Typical on here. My point was very simple & it seems that people can't process those simple thoughts and understandings.

All that matters here, is Corsa learned from his mistake and corrected himself, chose a better line, enjoyed the rest of the day, and thankfully didn't get hurt.

End of story

I'm not arguing, I'm making a point... Very different concept.

I love your logic. Just for you;

I will never get to mid 17s at TMP. That is a very fast pace and way beyond my talent and skill level.

^^^awful when that happens isn't it.

Fiery254 has a reputation for being blunt and opinionated. I once PMd him asking him to lay off a certain member of the forum a bit and he PMd me back with a shower of profanity. We have since kissed and made up (figuratively!). Yes he can be coarse but he also provides piles of useful advice, both on the forum and offline. Neither Corsara nor I need protection from him.

Regarding suspension: my bike came with a way undersprung but otherwise okay rear, and totally crap non-adjustable Marzocchi forks. I replaced the rear with a Penske fully adjustable (including ride height) shock and proper spring for my weight, and gutted the forks to install Traxxion Dynamics adjustable AK-20 cartridges and springs. The Penske gets serviced every 10 track days or so, and I change the oil in the forks approximately that often as well.

At my current pace and running Q2s I never break the rear loose unless there is some issue with the surface (wet, dirty, etc.), and only push the front a very very tiny bit once in a blue moon. Currently I don't think suspension per se is a limitation for me, but I do wonder about geometry. I tend to turn the bike in pretty hard (Keith Code disciple), but it is still a handful getting through the T3 / 4 / 5 bit at TMP. I have never monkeyed with front or rear ride height much and wonder if I might be able to get the thing steering more quickly.

Still, I can see piles of time available to me just with my riding - getting more consistent with my lines in general and carrying more speed through some of the mid-speed corners, and also braking later and harder, and getting on the throttle a bit earlier. I am reluctant to mess with the hardware much until I am sure it is actually letting me down. As my corner speed has come up I have had to add a little preload now and again to keep a margin of safety and avoid bottoming the suspension. I adjust rebound a bit as well depending on temperature, how the bike feels to me, a "bounce test", etc. But, mostly, the suspension just works and doesn't require much attention from me.

Above, I mentioned flipping my rear Q2, since the right side is getting roasted. Is that a stupid idea?

I would check with a Dunlop rep, about flipping a tire.

Dave & Competition Cycle would be a great start.
Or Sandy at Pro 6.

Nice. They must be well sorted to run those times safely at a track day. Assuming that what you said earlier about 1:17's and lower is actually the range that you're running. You never actually said. :p

I'm really eager to see the difference in my times with the zx6r at TMP, but I'm not eager to ride TMP just because I enjoy Grand Bend so much more.

If your bike is handling well, and feels well balanced then maybe it's in a good spot right now. I'm not sure about steps to try to improve it, so I won't suggest anything lest I get flamed.

I will say that I was also having a hard time steering my SV through 3/4/5 and also through 6b/7 at SMP Long track. At TMP I was on Dunlop GPA's, and was running 29 psi hot in the front. I couldn't get a good feel front the front all season (this was in September I think). I asked an experienced racer and he suggested increasing the pressure by 5 psi because Dunlop fronts work well at higher pressures. I was nervous to raise the pressure that much, but bumped it up to 34psi and went out easy to feel it. Unbelievable difference. The front end felt more stable, gave better feedback, and steering through 3/4/5 was SO much easier! At Shannonville, running Pirelli this time, John Sharrard was helping me set my bike up. I said I was having trouble steering and he said instead of playing with geometry, try increasing the pressure. I bumped it up 4psi (to 33) and same thing. The bike worked so much better. That's just my story, do what you will. :)
