Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Was the place in Cambridge Sirius Motosports by the Cop shop?
Thats where I get my oil, The guy there is a pretty good guy.
I just picked up a set of Pilot Road 2's from riders choice for $260 and got to get those installed.

Yup... that's the place.. on Saltzman Rd or something like that... go past the cop shop, turn right at the transport truck company... forget the name off the top of my head...

They've also go Belray regular motorcycle oil (10w40 IIRC) for something like $2.50 a litre if you bring in your own container.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Was just at Sirius this week getting brake rebuild kits and brake lines.

I think that bel ray 10w40 is $4/liter, but it's still a good deal. Their regular price for Motul 5100 is $35. I've had good service at Sirius, and have made use of the huge pegboard behind the counter with K&L kits. Only thing is, it can be hard to get to during business hours.

I got Pilot Road 3's for $300/set from the bike show, and had them put on recently. Can't wait to try them out.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

So, which brave soul over on this side is going to pick up the AMA ex-factory race bike ZX-10 at Apex and join us over on the dark side (aka track rider section)?

I think you need to get it so you can give us some highside lessons with video :).

You've got what, 3 bikes? 1 Duc and 2x SV? A ZX-10 would fit right in...

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

They still have that ZX-10 listed at $4,998. Comes with spare wheels and bodywork though.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

looks like a great track bike for someone. Finally got a 2nd set of rims this year for the CBR for slicks, very hard to find stock front rims for the 08+ since they get taken by all the racers.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Interesting situation today....
Casually mentioned the ZX10 to my mom when we were doing some bank/will/financial planning stuff.... were discussing track days at the time...
She suggested I sell my Suzuki, and she'd pay for the rest of the ZX10...
Told her I would appreciate it greatly... and that Colin (Apex owner) would be ecstatic to get it out of his shop...
but, also mentioned that as great as it would be, there's an equal chance of me preceeding her to the grave if I bought it...

Oh well.. if I had more experience, like 5-8 years track riding, I would have been all over that..

I think I speak for the club when I say you should get the ZX! Keep Suzi and loan it to me for the kw track days. Just saying ;)

My mom would say something like..."Sell the bike and buy some bagels"

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Just announced myself in the introduction thread and thought I'd also say hello here. Been perusing the site for a couple of months before finally joining but I had never ventured into this section until now; nice to see such a KW rider base on a GTA site.

I'd love to know when anything is happening and meet some new faces. My closest motorcycling friend had a wreck last year and neither he nor I aren't sure when or how much he'll be back on the bike this spring, so I need some new friends.

I live in Kitchener and work in Equitable Life way up in Waterloo, I sometimes muse at the stereotypical moulds I break by working at an insurance company (of course, no automotive or motorcycle policies mind you) and indulge in, again, stereotypical reckless hobbies. I'm looking forward to seeing first hand what kind of riders we have in the area and making your acquaintances!

Hi Kennedy, welcome! Last season we were trying to get out Thursday nights as often as possible. Details are on page 1 of this thread. The more the merrier. Hopefully your friend's wreck wasn't too bad! We'll get him back in the saddle. I broke my shoulder (and had surgery) in a wreck 10 years ago, and was back on a bike (street and track) the following season. If you want it, you do it! :)

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

I know its quite early but if the weather is right are any of you guys going down to Port Dover on April 13th?

Anybody know where to get a good price on a Yuasa YTZ10S battery? I don't really feel like paying $154.99+tax from Tri-city.

Does it have to be a Yuasa?
I picked one up (YTZ10S) from Royal last year for $50 and it does the job.

Well I read on some forums that the aftermarket ones generally don't last very long. I'm not too sure how accurate that is though.

As long as 3 of them last as long as a Yuasa I'm happy lol.
It really comes down to how you mantain it.

True enough. I figured it had to do with the way they were maintained. Sirius Motorsport in Cambridge quoted me $44 for a Durabat YTZ10S. I'll likely go with that one because as you mentioned, it's 3 times cheaper than a Yuasa.
