Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

great ride this morning guys..thx dave for leading the way and not getting lost :)

My pleasure. Super nice morning for a ride. Got the van fixed this afternoon, seems like it was just the battery (suddenly went bad...).

Yea - this morning was a near perfect ride. Good lead Dave. And nice to have soooo much police protection along the way (they must have known who we were... VIP's, [not hooligans]). I'm going to have to start with more early rides.

Glad to hear the race van is back in action!

I'm glad we didn't get stuck with roadblocks like that bike race that other time.

So we should get the Saturday morning rides going again. The run down to Waterdown for lunch is super cool.

Been thinking about coming up with a cool logo... KWHC... the Kitchener Waterloo Hooligan's Club. Or the Kitchener Waterloo Club of Hooligans... something with a pair of brass knuckles for sure though.. hehehehe...

Wish I would have seen this before I left. I'm good for the next month but let me know when your going next and I might check out your spot.

What happened with the cops on your ride?

There was a huge bicycle race happening and we got stuck at an intersection on sr15 and the bicycle traffic just wasn't stopping... so we turned around. Kind of crazy.

You should have kept the revs low and blended in with them

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

I ran into a bike marathon this summer coming north to Ailsa Craig. Passed a couple people on the side of the road who had a hose to spray water on the riders (it was one of the most humid points in the summer) popped open my visor and motioned for a shot.. thankfully they didn't actually do it, just laughed. :)

Good meeting you Jim - was a good ride on Thursday for sure.

As for tires - there's a guy on Kijiji that has a set of Michelin Pilot Power 2CTs for sale - $200 brand new.
Have them on my bike now -- front is great, I'm not convinced of the rear. Might just be a bad tire, but I find it squirmy in comparison to my old Pirelli's...

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

A lot of people absolutely love Michelin tires but personally I've never had a good feeling from them, on any bike. I find they take a long time to warm up and even then they feel hard like they want to slide all the time.

My buddy has Dunlop RoadSmart tires on his SV right now and loves them, and I just put 400km on my new Pirelli Angel tires and so far so good. If you're looking to get more distance out of them then sport touring is the way to go. Check Pete's Superbike in Montreal. They'll beat any local shop, assuming you can get them installed for less than a million dollars in town.
