The Official Ongoing Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

But once you get the blue from the 6 & 8k lights at night in the rain they are almost useless.

Really? I've never had a problem seeing with mine in the rain... maybe 'cause they're the 55 watt versions?

Mine are 8k 35W in my bike and in a bad rain fall at night they suck.

"What is the difference between 55w and 35w kits?
Our 55w HID kits are 40% brighter than the standard 35w kits.
55w kits tend to wash out some of the color of the HID bulb due to the light output( for example, a 55w 8000k will look similar in color to a 35w 6000k kit)." From DDM website

Well, there ya have it then... the 40% increase in light output is huge and more than likely why I can see fine on a rainy night with mine.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Way early feeler for people here....

What's everyone doing for New Year's Eve?

I usually have a little shindig at my place with 15-20 people on average. Didn't have it last year for the first time in a long while, and people are asking me to do it again. Of course, it's a BYOB, and it would be cool if everyone brought a little something for a snack/potluck tray.

Would any of you potentially be interested in showing up? North East corner of Waterloo about 3 minutes from University and Bridge St (yes, that's why I suggested that weekly meet location in the first place... hehehe...) Have limited crash space (spare bedroom with futon, couch in living room, couch in basement and lots of floor space) if anyone gets a little inebriated.

Just trying to figure out if it would be worthwhile doing it again....

Will this be Hooker friendly?

Ya and also the 8k 35w vs the 6k 55w (put out around 5k light) is a big difference

Hey Henry, check out this site...http://racer5.ca/ - this is where I did my 'intro' program. Tim and Nick did it as well, and we all had a blast. We just did the Stage 1 package... but they give you a bike, and you can rent the gear too. I'd highly recommend it, if you're interested in getting into the track. But be warned... this track stuff is highly addictive. ;)[/QUOTE

Ok thanks Dean I will be looking to do this early next year. I can't wait man I'm already having trouble sleeping just thinking about it.

How hard is it to install these hid kits. I nothing about the projectors that my R6 has so I'm a little nervous when I think about working on them or modifying the head lights. Thanks for any help guys

They are plug and play which means no cutting of wires. Biggest problem is finding a hiding spot for the ballasts.
If you are to scared with electrical I'm sure someone can give you a hand, (if you came to Cambridge as I have my daughter alot, I could put them in for you)

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

They're easy peasy to put in. You'll just have to pop open the front fairing to hide the ballasts (about the size of a deck of cards for the 35 watt ones, little wider for the 55w ones). Just find out the size of bulb your bike uses and be sure to order the right one. You'll have to cut a bit of the rubber boot around the back of the reflector casing and that's about it... Take a couple of hours absolute maximum with finding nice places to hide the ballasts.

Take a couple of hours absolute maximum

a couple of hours for Stevie Wonder.

Put mine in about 20 mins with clean up.

I was thinking about checking out the Ice House deal... may be cool, or it may suck. Either way, there's some good roads to hit. I need to be back around noon, so I was thinking about leaving around 8:30ish. We can meet at my place, or if there's a group, then we could meet at Tims on Fischer-Hallman/Ottawa.

That sounds good. Seems like everyone else is on a later schedule than us, so I'll just meet you at your place. Maybe we can do a fly-by of the Tim Horton's just to in case...

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

So? Who's up for this afternoon? Time doesn't matter to me - I'm free till about 7....
I'll monitor this thread every once in awhile and see what's up.

I have to go to Brantford for smokes and am leaving Conestoga area around 4pm. Fairly straight and boring drive, But thats my plan for this afternoon.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

I'm down for a ride in the afternoon. Are you talking Conastoga Mall or College? If you play poker you're welcome to come to my sunday night game after in Cambridge. ($10 buy in).

Conestoga College, I have to fill up gas at the gas station beside Timmies and go as I think the smoke shops close at 5pm.
I wish I could make the poker game but I will have my daughter tonight when I get back, I'll keep that in mind for when I have a free sunday night though.
If anyone wants to come let me know so I don't just take off.
