The Official Ongoing Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Was a fun ride tonight lads....
We did clear out of Timmie's pretty quickly - most of us showed up around 6:20-25 or so. Think we left closer to 6:40 than 6:30 though.

Slabbed it back just in time to pick up some pork chops. Lucky me!
Dave - don't know what your speedo was reading, but just before I waved G'bye and you slowed down we were doing 130. That's what I was trying to signal to you.

Pork chops! Very nice! Lucky you. haha...

Okay. I think I was around 145 for a bit at the point so looks like 15ish over. I'll break out my gearing spreadsheet and see what it has to say, and see if it jives with the numbers I was seeing and you and Dean have told me.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Guys thanks again for the ride tonight. Sorry guys after we got on the 401 I had to get going. Would have loved to go back to timmies for a coffee and got some more pointers on my riding. Also Danny thanks for hanging back for me and Two50noob. Guys i can honestly say other than it getting dark way to soon that was the best ride I have been on yet and I am looking forward to more to come.

Sorry if my driving bugged any one or if I made any big mistakes please let me know so I can work on them.

Two50noob the only suggestion I have for you is to not ride on the center of the lane if you don't have to. Thats where all the oil ends up from cars that leak.

Total kms put on for me and this is leaving St Jacobs and all the way back to Elmira was 175 kms. Thanks again guys.

Dean thanks for the advice on the track questions I had.

Nice to meet you and all the other folks that I hadn't met yet. Very good turn-out tonight.

Sorry we missed you Danny! Honestly I didn't even look at the time when we left. I knew I got there around 6:20ish... stood around for a bit, then we left.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

It is all good...I found you guys. I figured the group wouldn't have gotten to far so I just started driving out the way we usually do and next thing you know...there was a big crew of bikes!

That gravel road was brutal out of the covered bridge. Don't spin your tire if there are people following you!

Oops, my bad.....

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Odd that the road was covered in gravel. Went through there about 2 weeks earlier... they had dug up all the really lousy patch work (and for those never on that road before, it was TERRIBLE) and repaved all those sections... Dunno why they put the gravel down overtop... mayhap to keep us evil motorcyclists under the speed limit.. :p

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

LOL...didn't want to single anyone out.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Seems like it was tar and chip action... they probably decided the patch job was crap and ripped it up for tar and chip. It'll be good again in no time.

Hey Tim, which HID kit did you go with?

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

People where doing wheelies on a ride that I was leading?? How dare they... I'm takin' names!

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

The guy on the gixer from Elmira ( Jim ) wanted me to thank everyone for the ride. Said it was a good ride and fun

Hey Tim, which HID kit did you go with?

DDM Tuning 55 watts for the regulars, 35 Watts for the High Beams... 6000K for both sets.
Here's a link to the dual ballast/bulb combo: http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DDM-35W-55W-Dual-Motorcycle-HID-Kit
If you've got 1 headlight, 1 high, you can wire these up directly... or in my case, I have 2 lows, 2 highs, so I ordered 2 kits.

Cheapest you'll find online.

Only oddity I had was on the 55w ones the polarity was reversed. Just clipped off the slide guide on the female receptor, flipped the male over and plugged it in. Safer doing that than clipping the wires IMO. Nothing but good things to say about the quality of the product. They've been known to be slow on shipping at times, so call in advance to make sure what you want is in stock.

Was fun zipping up the 401 with him last night (where'd you go Henry?) - think he just loved the HID's on Babs too. Pulled up beside me and flicked his high beams on to compare... Must say, he was probably freezing by the time we got back to Waterloo though -- his jacket was riding up over his floating ribs in the wind the whole way... probably explains why he was in a full tuck the whole time on the 401!

DDM's are the best for the price,. I have them in my bike and the Hi/Lo's and foglights in my SUV :D Yup I'm that A**hole.

Hypothetical Wheelies.... or, must have accidentally applied too much throttle. That's what happened. I also hear the -1 +2 gearing can cause the front end to lighten...
And yes, I have the names, and they're now in my good books.:)

Yeah He said he couldn't believe how fast your bike was oh and he lived the headlights he said. He is trying to get onto the forum. As for me man I am way to much of a chicken sh** to go that fast yet maybe in the day light I would have tried but no way at night still too new to riding to try that. But I will yet give me time. After I caught up to him or rather he waited for me on the expressway we went to timmies in elmra and youre right he did look cold says he was good though.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Yeah He said he couldn't believe how fast your bike was

We weren't doing anything stupid (absolutely no 50 over). Traffic was moving at about 125-130, and we were passed by a couple cars doing more, so we slipped in behind a few of them for a while. So it's not that my bike is that fast - everyone who was on the ride last night could easily have reached that speed (and much higher) too!

That's what he meant
