The Official Ongoing Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Hypothetical Wheelies.... or, must have accidentally applied too much throttle. That's what happened. I also hear the -1 +2 gearing can cause the front end to lighten...
And yes, I have the names, and they're now in my good books.:)

LOL Yep, perfect. We'll have to compare notes and see who has the -1/+2 gearing. hahaha....

Just got the call from KW Honda on the safety check... only thing is that I need the peg feelers. I only have one, so he said he has an end cap and bolt but not the spacer collar. He said if I bring it in he can likely make one out of a piece of stock so that's cool. They didn't try to pull the brake pads card on me. ;)

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

DDM Tuning 55 watts for the regulars, 35 Watts for the High Beams... 6000K for both sets.
Here's a link to the dual ballast/bulb combo: http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DDM-35W-55W-Dual-Motorcycle-HID-Kit
If you've got 1 headlight, 1 high, you can wire these up directly... or in my case, I have 2 lows, 2 highs, so I ordered 2 kits.

Cheapest you'll find online.

Only oddity I had was on the 55w ones the polarity was reversed. Just clipped off the slide guide on the female receptor, flipped the male over and plugged it in. Safer doing that than clipping the wires IMO. Nothing but good things to say about the quality of the product. They've been known to be slow on shipping at times, so call in advance to make sure what you want is in stock.

Cool, thanks for the info. I've got one low and two high bulbs, so I can grab one dual kit and an extra 55W single (that is if I decide to do all 3, probably will now that I think about it). I'll do this over the winter so shipping times aren't all that critical, but thanks for the heads up!

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Was fun zipping up the 401 with him last night (where'd you go Henry?) - think he just loved the HID's on Babs too. Pulled up beside me and flicked his high beams on to compare... Must say, he was probably freezing by the time we got back to Waterloo though -- his jacket was riding up over his floating ribs in the wind the whole way... probably explains why he was in a full tuck the whole time on the 401!

I noticed his jacket was floating everywhere. Riding behind him it looked like he was doing the Harlem Shake or something. How much further is the route you guys took turning left on Highway 7 towards Rockwood?

I was planning on getting some too...group buy!

We went hwy 7 to Guelph Line, down to sr25, east to hwy 25, south to sr15, then west back to Guelph Line. We stopped at the gas station there for a bit and then booked it home on the 401. You split off just before the fun stuff started! :( But the darkness and getting stuck behind slow vehicles in some of the curves made it a bit less fun.

Maybe we can! At the very least we can share the shipping fees.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

I just need a single H7 35W 6000K kit to replace my low and leave my high beam for now. So ya, we can share shipping if it works out to be cheaper for everyone in the end.

Just ran through the checkout process and to ship a single kit is $36 via USPS, only option. Adding in a dual kit to the cart bumps the shipping to $41.20. It seems like a base international shipping rate is $36 and each item after is around $5 more.

If you only need the low beam and I need an extra high beam then we can get two of the 35/55 dual kits and share the one kit. I'm not sure what colour I want yet...

*edit* Just did some looking and I think I like 5000K the best, pure white.

I have the 6000k Fog lights and the 8000k Hi/Lo's in my truck and I can't really notice a difference between the two.
But once you get the blue from the 6 & 8k lights at night in the rain they are almost useless.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

I got 6000K on my car and I like those. My DRL/High Beams are a hyper yellow PIAA bulb which give a nice high beam light and it looks cool...lol. But Jeff is right...if the conditions are right you can't even tell you have lights on sometimes. If its clear they light the road up nicely and all the signs reflect quite nice. I think OEM car applications only use like 4300k.

-Dave if you wanna go splits I will be happy with any kit from 4500k-6000k. HIDS can be my first bike project in my new Bike cave at the new place!

This is the reason I would never take any bike to KW honda peg feelers are not needed for a safety, foot peg just have to be solidly attached. You should have taken it to zdeno or Apex they would have passsed it.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

K-W Honda pulled that **** on me too when I tried to saftey my 650R. Canadian Tire will safety and pass anything. They upped the cost. It use to be $39 but they charged me $50 for the 250. They passed it with an intergrated taillight too!

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

I had Zdeno jerk me around on feelers before too... anyway, I rode up there today, got a new feeler for $3, done. Went to the ministry, it's officially mine now :)

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Anyone up for an early morning ride tomorrow?

I have to go to Brantford tomorrow to get smokes if anyone wants to join in, but I will be leaving the Conestoga area around 3:30-4pm.
It's not early morning or a curvy ride (till you get onto the smoke shop road) but I have to go either way.
And my gf works till 3pm so I can't even go any earlier.

My schedule is totally opposite... I have to be home early afternoon at the latest.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Totally in. What time and where?

I was thinking about checking out the Ice House deal... may be cool, or it may suck. Either way, there's some good roads to hit. I need to be back around noon, so I was thinking about leaving around 8:30ish. We can meet at my place, or if there's a group, then we could meet at Tims on Fischer-Hallman/Ottawa.

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

Dean thanks for the advice on the track questions I had.

Hey Henry, check out this site...http://racer5.ca/ - this is where I did my 'intro' program. Tim and Nick did it as well, and we all had a blast. We just did the Stage 1 package... but they give you a bike, and you can rent the gear too. I'd highly recommend it, if you're interested in getting into the track. But be warned... this track stuff is highly addictive. ;)

Re: The Official 2011 Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas thread.

I'm in for tomorrow afternoon in case anyone else is.
Just picked up a game to referee at 11am, done by 12:30... showered, home and ready to roll by 1:30pm...
