The CMA and the FIM

... and how do you come to that conclusion? That seems awfully presumptuous of you.

The CMA is a sanctioning body that refuses to sanction events.
WHY IS THAT MR. TRIALS??
Did you ever try?

I've Never had a problem.

A few years ago a rider from the ATA (CMA) attended one of our SOCT trials. At the riders meeting he asked why we started our event when we did. Then asked about our sign up procedure and event promotions. Then our rules were not correct. (we run nostop). Next up was our insurance provider was in question and affiliation with the CVMG.
The riders meeting went about 1/2 hour past start time.
Politics and motorcycles should never meet.
There is a reason the SOCT does not need cma sanction. It's redundant.

Very true, politics ruins the club experience for many - not just in mc clubs either.

I'm curious, what was the issue with affiliation with the CVMG?
I am a member and have attended a number of their rally events as a day visitor and always make a point of watching the vintage trials. I might one day get up the gumption to have a go at it.

It had something to do with the insurance which covers our group. Lots of really fun events. I have been a member for many years and can't wait for covid to end so we can get back to Paris again.
I talked my daughter into participating in the trials demo a couple of years ago. Huge thrill to see your kid ride over a car for the first time!
Btw. My post in no way was a reflection of all ata members.

Even less in recent years because I have been affiliating my events with ATA and the awesome rider Neil Carter makes everything so easy seamless and possible.

Who the hell is Neil Carter?

Ever heard of ATA Amateur Trials Association
It exists because of Neil. Another volunteer/rider/ & motorcycle dealer.
OK
Since you seem to think Bastedos will respond positively to sanctioning road races or MX races, why don't YOU set us up some CMA/FIM sanctioned events.
What do you think I've been working on for 6 months. But it's going to be a hard enduro, no novices need apply. I don't want to be pulling you out of the woods.

& we need covid to go away first.

When you purchase insurance through CMA for a CVMG sanctioned event,
the organizers save about 7 bucks on the members entry fee, if they present their CMA membership on sign-in.

And a membership costs $30, so you'll have to go to 5 events for it to pay off.

CMA membership or CVMG?
CMA is 50 for me this year and 80 for you because you are not a life member.

and yes you need to go enough events to make it worth while,
the organizers have to get enough money to cover their costs too, if not enough riders show up, that's not good.
if I start a club, I better have 2 successful events a year or I will personally be money out of pocket.

Ah ATA. That would explain the personalized plate on the Transit van I park beside at work.

Look at all the money I've saved over the last 45 years by not being a member ! I'm rich !!! :)

After rereading and re-listening to the podcast, here's one final shot.
The MCC (and ergo its silent affiliate the MMIC) do not have any provision for plebes like us to be members. Without such a provision, we're just replacing one oligarchy with another. Its up to us GTA'ers and other concerned motorcyclists to petition the MCC for equal rights and voting privileges as to who sits on the board. If we can convince them that it's the right thing to do, the next time they go to the FIM they would have a lot more credibility. Just sayin'...

Good for you, show us your gold

This what they look like for those who have never seen one.

I have a shelf and a shoe box full of trophies and medals I've accumulated over the last 45 years. One day I'll make some wind chimes out of them.
Ditto
