Re: "The Beer Store’s secret sweetheart deal with LCBO revealed" - says The Star

We shall see

I and all of my friends would gladly go out of our way to give our money to grocery stores over Beer Store, simply because you have been laying pipe into us for our entire existence.

No Stockholm syndrome here. **** you guys

I've only ever bought delirium tremens in Buffalo. Love that beer. Idiots probably won't sell it here because of its name.

Small town easy major reno needed in big city stores to separate.
Yeah man renovations are totally impossible in town. I mean, who has money or manpower for that in Toronto!

You've been working a cash register too long bro. This might be a good thing for you.. may get to pursue a real career.

Seriously, who can expect to sell beer/booze for a living unless you are the one making it? The **** sells itself.

I would say 'Only in Ontario', but I am sure there are some other backwards states someone in the world that only allow unionized workers to sell alcohol during very limited hours.

Re: "The Beer Store’s secret sweetheart deal with LCBO revealed" - says The Star

Where did I say impossible? This why I don't respond much anymore as people don't seem to read what's written.

Thanks for kind wishes don't run a cash that often.

Guess that when Lcbo controls what you can sell and for what price you think price will be lower I just laugh and repeat what I said near start of this thread wait and see.

I'm out of this thread.

Re: "The Beer Store’s secret sweetheart deal with LCBO revealed" - says The Star

Sorry you are going to be out of a job Irocian, but I am very sure we can get beer for the same or lessor price than current if grocery stores can sell it... just look at Quebec for example.

In the end, the Ontario government will still charge $X amount per case of beer in tax... whether that tax is collected from the LCBO, The Beer Store, Costco, Lablaws, or wherever makes absolutely no difference to me.

Re: "The Beer Store’s secret sweetheart deal with LCBO revealed" - says The Star

Can't wait to see how they will train their staff for smart serve and anyone that works at any store they choose to sell in under 17 will lose their jobs as you can't work in a business with alcohol sales at that age.
Don't believe look it up.

Corner stores in Quebec have been doing it from before I was born. Never been an issue.

Re: "The Beer Store’s secret sweetheart deal with LCBO revealed" - says The Star

Im completely in favor of allowing privatized vendors into the industry and a whiskey boutique in TO may be an awesome idea , or rum.
But what cannot be overlooked is the colossal scale of buying power the LCBO has. Most of our retail price is tax so the prices will not go down on wine and beer in corner stores and the distribution costs for Fred that wants 6 bottles of bingo X for his store shelf vs. local LCBO with 6 cases, the volume is going to be hard.
Complicate that with craft brewers make one sales call to the LCBO office and if your listed the product makes it onto a shelf. Imagine having to employ a sales network to call on thousands of independents to call on mom and pop for shelf space.
In Alberta the selection went down and prices actually went up.

That exactly why the lcbo wont stock it. It is in the beer store selectively will have to recheck the map

Re: "The Beer Store’s secret sweetheart deal with LCBO revealed" - says The Star

Again Quebec is not even in the same ball park as us. Also don't have as many choices either.
A heavy subsidized province can't be compared to Ontario and that argument is moot as if we were subsidized as much as Quebec then your point would make sense.

Ask so people in BC what beer costs. They are charging them more for cold beer then warm so you pay for the air conditioning and the warm beer is still more then on average then Ontario beer.

If you think prices are going down good luck with that process.

So believe what you will, call me names if it makes you feel better as makes me laugh but won't make the beer cheaper and don't be surprised if small breweries don't get in.

Everyone have a great day.

Someone asked where I was did you miss that post?

Reading and laughing. Guinness is not made by Molsons it's made by Labbatts first off.

Smart serve? That half day course you can sleep through?

Re: "The Beer Store’s secret sweetheart deal with LCBO revealed" - says The Star

Not free

Re: "The Beer Store’s secret sweetheart deal with LCBO revealed" - says The Star

Yeah I'm sure that $30 for each employee will stop stores from selling beer for huge profits

Re: "The Beer Store’s secret sweetheart deal with LCBO revealed" - says The Star

So far we know the qualifications for selling alcohol are:

Be over 17
Take a $30 smartserve course
