The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

Old feller in a Jeep got pinched.

"Officers with the OPP’s Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team said they spotted the 80-year-old driver speeding at 159 km/h in a 80 km/h zone.

Police said his licence was expired at the time of the alleged offence. He was charged with stunt driving."
I've heard of golfing one's age but it one should be cautious about applying it to driving.

80 year old woman playing bumper cars while driving into oncoming traffic on Front street. Hit at least 10 cars in this video and got in more crashes 3 km further along. Arrested at second crash site.

Here's one for @Rob MacLennan . While I don't believe for a second that the ALPR has Xray vision and can read plates through dark tinted covers, I would hope that they are programmed to flag vehicles with unreadable plates.

I still want them to make this a constant thing. These days it seems like a quarter of the plates on the road are obscured in this way.

I still haven't swapped out my dealer plate covers, because I need to modify clear covers for a two bolt fit, but I have most of what I need to do it.

Not sure what kind of screws my dealer used but they weren’t standard. Any kind of cover over the plate numbers/letters should be a $5,000 fine. Second should be a 90 day impound. Same with dark tints on windows. This is never done by “accident “.

Not sure how this guy managed this with an Odyssey at that spot.

I see curbs. I am very surprised that a 2' drop on a commercial property has no railing.
I stand corrected. I blew the pic up to 300% and can now make out shallow rectangular grey curbstones. They look to be maybe a couple of inches high and there's a similar lip on the concrete wall around the lot. There might as well be nothing there, as that's not going to impede anything.

I would put at least half of that on the design of the parking lot. What looks to be a 2 foot drop and no curbstones? That's dangerous.
I'd say majority of the blame is on the driver...there's a small curb. They're just being inattentive.

Drivers should always know what's around / conditions of the area before committing. And if they hit the curb, and kept going...well...

In regards to the rail...I'm just going to assume that the lot is within the required rules and regulations. But yes...a 1ft curb or at least a bump stop should be there to help out.

It's just an idiotic design. It's Canada. In winter a 2" curb is called... nothing, because it's invisible.

Should have gone faster ... would have made it. Yeeee-haaaaaahhh!!

First vehicle spotted in the ditch this winter. Ford F150 4x4. Of course. (Bottom of Winston Churchill in Terra Cotta - did lots of damage to the guardrail on the south side)
Followed shortly thereafter by the second ... I think it was a snow plow, although I had the opportunity to turn south on Misssissauga Road so I could only see what looked like a plow in the ditch on the hill on King Sideroad just east of Mississauga Road. Big traffic backlog in both directions.
Also spotted a Nissan Kicks unable to get up a hill on Mississauga Road. Probably all-season (LOL) tires. Later saw the same vehicle heading south with the 4 way flashers on at 30 km/h, on Mississauga Road. I passed it.
Then saw a Honda Civic unable to get up a gentle slope on Creditview. Probably not-this-season tires. I had no trouble.

I drove down to my brother's new house, near Chatham, on Dec. 23rd. The snow/rain/freezing rain started when I was maybe 1/3 of the way there. I only saw one vehicle that had gone off-roading, much to my surprise, though it made it a good 50 metres off the road. I was wishing that the idiot in the 4WD pickup that came up behind me at maybe 140 in the dark on a snow covered highway would be the next, but no luck.

I was super keen on the AWD Maverick with 4K tow…but think I’ll settle for the FWD Hybrid as I will very rarely need to tow more than 2k, and the AWD is a nice to have, not a must have for me.

Obviously winter tires will be the first thing installed.

Don’t want to end up like the Nissan Kicks in this story…

A friends dad had a suspected medical emergency and launched out of a gas station into the second storey of a nearby building and then fell down. He was mostly ok. I can't find a link to the video right now. Sadly, the guy died a few years later of unrelated causes.
