The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

In all honesty I see the benefit of running. Hell anyone here may do the same if their entire livelihood and potential future is on the line.

Unfortunately none of us know how we will react in such a situation. But panic does funny things to people.
Mentioned before, the unintended consequences of extreme punishment. Nothing to lose.

One simple starting point is the police going after covered licence plates.

How about a revenue neutral reward collected from the driver and paid to informants.

Make covered plate fine $1000. They have alpr on most cruisers. Blitz plate covers hard for a month and you sbould have most of them.

Those are the people who come up here to Orangeville and then reek havoc on the 410. I'm sure this is the real reason why Brampton drivers take up at least 60% of the testing slots at the Orangeville DriveTest centre. The G2 Exit test up here would be a cake-walk as compared to the test in Brampton. The highway portion of the test consists of a short trip up Highway 10 (80kph), with a merge to the right and then back to the left lane. Since they have never been tested on how to use an acceleration lane it's no surprise that they are a danger when trying to get onto the 410.

My point is about people who live close to a test centre, such as Orangeville residents, but commute daily along the 400 and 410, without being tested on it. It's the same issue as people who live close to a 400 series highway and a corresponding test centre but get tested in a location like Orangeville.

Well another plan could be that if you live within 50 km of a 400 series highway, you have to be tested at a centre that includes a 400 series portion. That would close the alliston and lindsay drivetest centre's completely.

I saw a cop that had a pickup pulling a trailer pulled over. Truck and trailer weren't an obvious disaster. Load on the trailer however :/. Prefabricated a 10x16 shed and moving it in one piece with some flags on the corners and no wide load markings/permits/etc isn't going to end well. Not sure if cop will let him finish his journey or if they are going to make him call a competent company to do it properly.

He's lucky he crashed in Brampton instead of vaughan. In vaughan he wouldnt have made it through that many yards before he crashed into a giant patterned concrete patio.
I'd say he's luckier there was no one in any of the backyards that he hit. I'm happy our corner house has a backyard that's primarily on a straight section of the road with less chance of having someone enter it with an out of control car.

Our kids spend a lot of time in the front yard, and it always worries me some idiot won't make the turn and hit them. Thankfully we have lots of trees so that would take the hit.

Most likely scenario...drunk driver ran home and will face the 'failure to remain' charge over the much harder 'DUI' charge.
A Criminal Code charge of dangerous operation causing injury is no laughing matter. It's immediate suspension for a year (possible prohibition for up to 10 years), 1-14 years in prison, a fine of $1K-$10K, and the least of it is 6 points to your license. you want a good lawyer, if you get hit with this.

Indeed. I caught video of someone parking in my parking spot, while I was at Shannonville for the races. This woman pulled into my spot and then at less than a walking pace her SUV rolled forward, over the curb, up the grass, and right into the gas meter of the neighbour across the way. Wish I could have saved it but the DVR kacked out when I tried to export. (Now I have cameras that both dump to a computer AND have SD cards)

*EDIT* - I wish that I could have saved the video because while it showed a woman getting out of the driver's seat and stumbling away, a man showed up to say that he was driving. I strongly suspect the woman was 3 full sheets to the wind, at the time. Had apparently come from a wedding, just up the street.

I know this metro cop. He had a 30' boat at the cottage, that he wanted in his driveway. So he borrowed a BIG Dodge Ram Diesel PU off another cop to pull said boat (ya wanna be SAFE, right?)... didn't know the truck had Personal Use Only plates, which limits you to 4500k GVW. OOPS. Got nabbed by the MOT, and had to pull to a scale, where he got a $1200 over weight ticket. After much discussion at the weigh scale, he had to leave the boat till he found legal to pull it, he went home and got his '89 Buick Roadmaster wagon (with a class 2 hitch AT BEST)... that had passenger car plates. That's fine. With a passenger car your weight limit is your driver's license, 11,000k vehicle and 4500k towed.

If you have a Dodge Ram with PUO plates, you're overweight if you got a fat wife.

Not anymore law has changed and you are ok as long as it is for personal use.

As an aside, black Corvette hit a construction worker on the 401EB and shut down collector lanes. Hope they find the a$$hole.
Big surprise /s. Driver had a suspended license already. 24 yo from North York. Hopefully they cut his leg off so he can remember daily what an ass he is.
