The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

lots more jobs in brampton. Testing on the roads and traffic conditions you are actually likely to experience regularly.

Back several dozen pages ago there's a post about a Brampton driving instructor getting nabbed by the OPP doing a U-turn on the 410 in heavy traffic in one of the emergency vehicle turnarounds, so don't hold up any hope for improvements there.

Quick Google search found the article.

A friend who WAS a driving examiner told me they were expected to fail about 10%. I'm assuming that was on average.

I see New Method Driving School cars quite often in Orangeville. I make sure to keep a very safe distance away from them.

What about people who have to navigate a 400 series highway on a daily basis but their local test location isn't close to one?
When has the government ever worried about inconveniencing a tax payer?

It's a one time test. Drive decently and most people won't get tested again until they're 80.

I have a 91 year old uncle in small town Manitoba that got his DL early in life. He went into the licencing office and asked about getting a licence. They asked him if he could drive and when he said yes they gave him a licence.

He worked for a dealership and when the old farmers came in by horse and buggy to buy a car he showed them how to drive it. He then gave them a note that they could take to the licencing office and get a licence.

And it's a laughable 'test'.

There are several sketchy driving schools in Brampton. I expect there to be another round of revocations some time soon. This was an old one.

The student should be taught more than the minimum to pass the test. If the school is found to be lax does the student have to repeat?

They haven't been taught properly and I don't care why. We have to share the same roads.

What does one need to do to get an instructors licence?

As far as I know there is no "Value added" with the MOT if a driver gets advanced training from a skid pad, gravel, panic situation type school.

Those are all training for 172 tickets. You and I know they improve skills, politicians like to create and profit from fear.

It's very doubtful that there would be any retroactive action, after a school is de-certified. Done and dusted.

What I can tell you is that any time I see a driving school car I am extra cautious. I am even more cautious, however, when I see there is only one person (presumably the instructor) in the vehicle, based on my past experiences around this town.

Sad but true. Often talking on hand-held phone too. Some of the worst around. Would you get a mischief charge if you stuck a "Locally Hated" sticker on their cars?

Those are the people who come up here to Orangeville and then wreak havoc on the 410. I'm sure this is the real reason why Brampton drivers take up at least 60% of the testing slots at the Orangeville DriveTest centre. The G2 Exit test up here would be a cake-walk as compared to the test in Brampton. The highway portion of the test consists of a short trip up Highway 10 (80kph), with a merge to the right and then back to the left lane. Since they have never been tested on how to use an acceleration lane it's no surprise that they are a danger when trying to get onto the 410.

This shouldn’t be allowed at all. Increase capacity in the GTA and then if your address is within City of Toronto / Mississauga limits…can only do testing there.

As an aside, black Corvette hit a construction worker on the 401EB and shut down collector lanes. Hope they find the a$$hole.

Poor guy has a really messed up leg. Apparently corvette drove through a construction zone, hit the worker and just kept going. Hit and run needs to be tied into perpetual payments to victim for the rest of the drivers life.

Most likely scenario...drunk driver ran home and will face the 'failure to remain' charge over the much harder 'DUI' charge.
Or they had substances ir weapons in their car or . . . . Until fail go remain has a guaranteed huge hammer (lifetime income garnish, automatic jail, etc) it will continue to be very prevalent.

In all honesty I see the benefit of running. Hell anyone here may do the same if their entire livelihood and potential future is on the line.

Unfortunately none of us know how we will react in such a situation. But panic does funny things to people.

The options look like this....

Stay--for sure you get caught with added charges if also doing something illegal.
Flee--maybe you get caught but you get something extra if you do.

If they were already drunk, driving dirty or doing something illegal (crime) they have shown that penalties do not factor very much into their decisions.

Normal person doing nothing illegal may also still panic and opt to flee just in the moment.
