The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

This is a good test case of driving as a privilege vs a right. I think the only reasonable driving consequence is a lifetime ban for that behaviour. I don't care that she was young. She intentionally tried to kill someone, she can walk for the rest of her life. We all know there is close to 0% chance of that happening.
They'll ignore the ban because they're smart and know how to drive fast so they can get away.

Even if they were killed it wouldn't have an effect on the next loser because the next loser thinks they're smarter and would get away.

Catch and release means every time they get out they come out better equipped to do more damage.

It is an infamous statistic: 80% of drivers think they are safer than the average driver.
So 31% are in a fantasy world where they are a legend in their own mind.

Saw a bicyclist come very close to being smoked by a car yesterday, as a result of the bicyclist blowing a stop sign. The driver of the car in front of me was paying attention, saw it coming at the last moment and swerved into the opposite-direction lane (no oncoming traffic).

The only sure things in life are death, taxes, and trucks hitting the 11 foot 8 (+8) bridge.

That one, and "Friant Roulette", are the two that always leave me scratching my head. How do you miss the big flashing sign? Years back, in a previous job, a manager peeled the front 1/3 of a box truck box up by doing exactly that on a train bridge, while delivering a load of computers to a school board client.

If you don't know about Friant Roulette, the 3-way intersection of Friant and Shepherd in Fresno, California has excellent sight lines, is almost dead flat, and has one or more serious collisions a week due to people running red lights.

Look closely. New pedestals, new abutments, and new 12' 4" signs. The bridge and track grade were raised 8" in 2019.

*EDIT* missed the (+8)

I did not know about Friant Roulette. Fair warning: that channel has at least one unlabeled fatality

If you check out the Google Street View of the area, you'll really be scratching your head as to why they have all of these crashes.

I already started going down that rabbit hole lol. It's certainly not the worst intersection I've seen in my life

Prius on Prius? HAS to be Cali.

It was a coincidence I found a video at the same intersection.

Another gem in Barrie.

"A police car was travelling east on Georgian Drive with its lights and siren on when a car smashed into it.

A further police investigation determined the cruiser was forced to travel into the westbound lane of Georgian Drive because the vehicle failed to give way to the police car as it attempted to pass by.

As the cruiser passed, the car suddenly turned into the path of the oncoming police car causing damage to the right front passenger side.

A 24-year-old Barrie man was uncooperative with the investigation and was charged with obstructing the police and impaired driving charges"

Another one in Barrie. Not sure what happened this time but the comments are not friendly to the taxi driver.
