The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

Are you guys sure.... re city street and HTA.

Otherwise I am going nuts on the city streets tonight if I can't get a HTA172....
HTA 172 applies to all public roadways, in Ontario, whether under city, township, or Provincial control. Frequently you can be hit with a HTA or bylaw infraction, depending upon the mood of the officer.

Redhill parkway off of the Linc now at 80km/hr is so so slow now. Very annoying. Saturday mornings have seen as many as 5 cruisers pulling people over with one officer on a bridge radio'ing speeders to their colleagues.

5X suspended... maybe the 10th time will result in a night in jail? I know you can get a suspended license from other ways like not paying tickets and stuff but still..

I think the opposite; that nice survivor of a Chevy might be totalled, whilst the sorry excuse of a "driver" gets to keep on being a road hazard. At least if he/she hit the berm/wall, there might be one less moron on the road after...
The 55 was restored. The owner posted some YouTube videos of the aftermath.

Some lady, bless her heart, is trying to get Ebikes licensed.

A Toronto cycle association says it should be self policed. Right.
As far as I'm concerned those overweight beasts that have pedals for decoration and legal purposes, only, should be classed as LSMs.

Driving the shop van and understanding what a vision blocker it is i stay a little to the left in heavy traffic to give the motorists behind me some forward vision. Sadly most other motorists cant help their lemming instinct or something and align with my van and are prone to surprises SMH.

I wish more van/truck drivers would do this.

Would it not be better to be a little to the right as the drivers behind you sit on the left side of their cars.... :)

Pretty sure that's a prius (~2017) in which case it does not have a clutch and 99% chance it is driven by a moron.
Nobody asked and this is missing the point, BUT - fun fact, the planetary gearbox in a Prius DOES have a clutch. There is no way for the car or driver to disengage it - its only purpose is to limit driveline shock

Cool. Where are they worried about the shock coming from? Gas engine engaging? Shouldn't be too hard to poke the computer in the brain to allow neutral drops in your prius. The opposite of a trans brake. Obviously not good for the clutch but a neutral drop has always been horrendous for your vehicle.

Threw an AMC Hornet into park and reverse once when the brakes failed and the emegency brake snapped. Sheared the pin off that wouldn't let you start it in gear, but was otherwise fine once the brakes were fixed. After that I stopped going to Canadian Tire, and used the parking brake regularly on all my cars. Messing up a transmission is better than wrecking a bunch of cars.

Mechanics seem astonished when I tell them that I use my parking brake.

Drove back from Toronto. You people need to take a course and get off the phone.
Light turns green, or the green arrow shows, and you're still looking down at your phones.
Also had a pickup driver fit his truck behind me, and in front of a mazda, into a space half the length of his truck.
I may have to get a rear dashcam for these situations, as I wasn't sure if he'd clip me when trying to pull in.
He didn't want to wait way at the back for the guy in front doing 100 in the passing lane to pass the transports.
Later on he got caught in traffic again and the Mazda managed to pass him, which seemed to incite him.
Mazda later passed someone on the right, and the Truck went around them both on the shoulder.
luckily he didn't have a blowout from the debris, and was off at 150+ kph, until he hit more traffic.
Mazda driver said that he took down the plate, and plans to report it.

Not sure where I could send this:
Start of video mazda is on the right and slightly ahead of the pickup.

Lots of left lane bandits on the 401 today.
One stretch looked like it had 60+ cars bumper to bumper, while someone dawdled passing a transport, who also wanted to pass.

Please drive safe, and don't freak out at bad or slow drivers.

You could email the link to the OPP detachment that covers that area but, in practice, I don't know how much good it will do. I've sent links to OPP for video of collisions and incredibly dangerous behaviour, but never received a response. Same with Peel. I sent Peel video of a pickup driver passing in the bike lane (with a bike in it), in a school zone, at double the limit with the plate clearly visible. No response.

1%er went ripping up the shoulder of the 401 today. Most of 50 km/h faster than traffic in live lanes.

I think they use online reporting to send owners a grumpy letter. I dont think they normally issue a ticket due to difficulty in prosecuting (easier to hand out speeding tickets than to build a vase for driving that could kill people). I think the best case scenario is a note ends up in their file so when they are pulled over in the future, they are handed maximum tickets possible for that day (ie your report used up all of their courtesies/warnings that they may have otherwise had).

I would expect, at the very least, that they acknowledge receipt of the message. Nothing.
