The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

I'm imagining grandma's grave being driven over by some confused suburbanite trying to test out the automotive equivalent of a North Face backpack... one that chooses a cemetery? I think I'd be upset.

At least it sounds like he's being charged appropriately. The photo is still... damning, but article says he didn't drive over any graves. Supposedly. Am I correctly understanding the maximum penalties are a $50,000 fine or 2 years in jail?
I'd be shocked if this didnt get dropped to failing to drive in marked roadway or similar (assuming he is not a prick in court). Penalty of a small sum or suspended sentence so there is no penalty assuming they avoid tickets for xx months.

That is if it even gets that far, courts are really backed up and barely operational at best, I expect that they will dismiss most tickets waiting for trial as the 11b timeframe will come into play.

Not very far over the border.

I'm still not sure if he has a trailer under there.
At first I thought he was skull dragging the thing, but I have a feeling there is like a 5x8 flat bed trailer or something under there somewhere. His transmission and brakes may need some attention after that haul.

19 year old with a great attitude. Wants to turn where it's not allowed. Is told by a traffic agent (for all intents and purposes a cop) he can't so he tries to push the traffic agent out of the way with his car. Driving is a privilege my ass. If it was, he would have a 10 year cooling off period to mature before he got another chance to try.

He probably wanted to skip the lineup for the Gardiner ramp. It gets pretty backed up there and he felt "entitled" to go first. On the "10 year cooling off period" thing he could potentially be looking at pretty much that, depending upon his previous conviction history.

Assault With a Weapon - Maximum 14 years
Assault of Peace Officer - Maximum 5 years
Dangerous Operation of a Vehicle - Maximum 10 years

He's not likely to get any of the maximums, but odds are good that he'll be spending a few years in the government hotel.

You think they will give him a custodial sentence with no injuries? I don't have nearly that much faith in our justice system.

I do, based on his behaviour and the victim being a peace officer. Without that last bit, I suspect that it would be probation. Also, as previously stated, if he has a history of such behaviour then it won't go well.

Almost got side swiped on Erinmills Parkway on the weekend. My new pre-curved gauntlet prevented me from giving the driver the bird. Just showed the back of my hand. That will teach him!

This kid definitely qualifies. If there was ever a poster child for a decades long driving restriction, this is it. 16 year old driving a mercedes in a pocket subdivision with a 40 km/h speed limit blows a corner, kills a brother and sister (4 and 10 yo) in their driveway, knocks a transformer off its base and then hits a tree. Pretty obvious that he was going nowhere near 40 km/h.

Who did it this time? Barrie cops just called for a tow truck to pick up a bike for stunting. It's a beautiful week ahead, crappy time to lose the ride.

Apparently taken in Burks Falls yesterday. I've run long things out the passenger window and forward over the mirror but never considered carrying 12' lumber sideways through the car.

Impaired guy in Aurora realises he's too out of it to drive in the middle of the day so he gets his 12 year old son to drive. Understandably the 12 year old sucks at driving and gets honked at so dad takes over again. Busted.

That angers me. Driving impaired and endangering others is one thing and bad enough, but to drag your young child into it deserves punishment to the farthest extent of the law. The man isn't fit to be a parent, let alone drive a car.

Good on the cop for taking the child's welfare into consideration and trying to minimize the trauma of it.
