Thank you Witnesses!!!

UPDATE:
Appraiser is thinking it's a write off...he'll give the final word to the Adjuster sometime this week.

I'm following up on the hit and run investigation by filing a secondary report on this mo fo on Saturday.

Can anyone explain to me WHY this is such a bloody hassle when all I did was park the bike legally?

Yikes.. Now you'll have to haggle over "fair value"... Start looking at ads of the same make/model/year bikes and printing them to PDF. They always try to lowball you first. Unfortunately, life ain't fair all the time :(

People don't like to be held accountable for their actions. Moreoever, You only ever know a person's true colours once money is involved.

Was the culprit identified/contacted?

Not yet. I have to go into a station and do a secondary report and follow up if I want to pursue this...

What are you waiting for?

Sorry for your trials. That really sucks.

I wonder where our pal is that says there's no way a knock down should cost more than $200. I presume to write your ride off there was some considerable damage. This just demonstrates that it doesn't take much of a knock to generate a huge repair bill.

I know you've been through a lot, and would just like this to go away, but I think you should pursue it and ensure the person responsible for this realizes this type of thing is not acceptable.

They replace a nicked frame or swingarm. That starts getting into some serious dollars.

I'm going in Sat. after class, to file the report....Come hell or high water I want this man charged. If I'm without a bike for a month and have to deal with the stress of following up on insurance etc. If nothing else he should be charged and deal with the inconvenience of demerit points.

While it's unlikely that he'd receive the heaviest possible charge and penalty, leaving the scene of a collision is a criminal charge. It's under section 252 of The Criminal Code.

I believe..,...He already committed the offense, so right off its Careless Driving (6 points) Fail to remain (6 points) Fail to furnish required information (3 points) Fail to report accident (3 points).

And the highest accumulated amount of points you can get is six at a time, unless each charge is tried separately with separate convictions.

Sorry for your Loss Lin, hope it comes out well

How would those stacked hypothetical convictions reflect on his insurance, assuming an otherwise clean record?

Give him hell sushi!

funny that you assume the driver was insured. My understanding is that there are a scary number of people out there without any paperwork at all.
