Sometimes people use my driveway to access a field by my house....

Red,

There are too many unknown variables here but your have assumed certain things about use of the field and assumed that A-Hs will care about your privacy / safety. Your bad. Never underestimate self centred A-Hs. I thought this forum taught you that.

Talk to the local cops about the trespassing if you want but I think the results will be discouraging. If you are available 24/7 to document, report, follow up etc on the trespassing you might get somewhere but if there are numerous violators they can taunt you like hyenas.

You don't want to pay for a fence but that is the price of privacy. You can pay for a fence, security guards, paid duty cops, lawyers or thugs. Pick one or a combo.

Out of curiousity, how many feet of fence is required?

400' and a gate for the driveway

That was you today?! You basterd!! I couldn't tell if you were staring at me to rub it in that you drove on my lawn or because I was wearing a titty top with no bra and it was chilly

I must admit I may have been distracted by the titty top-no bra-chilly action.

One thing I do know is, I'll come again.(And I do mean pass again)

Right then, up the ante. Get one of these (yours for only $9999) and teach them to go for the engine blocks

For that price, why not go semi-auto:

The empty field has road front, but they go up my driveway anyway. I'm not telling the kids not to play in it. I bought my property knowing full well the adjacent field would remain vacant for decades and that it would be great for the kids to play in. Dog versus truck?? Dogs are kind of expensive to be testing out whether that would help.

So if they stopped using your driveway but kept driving around in the field, you'd still let your kids go out there and play?

This is what I observe. You ask for advice then when the most obvious answers are given you argue with the people giving you answers. likely you will do the opposite of what has been suggested. There's another member that does the same thing, it's quite entertaining to watch.

Don't want to put up a fence due to cost? Put up a locked gate across the front of your driveway, yes it will inconvenience you entering and leaving but your children will be safe.

Redassus695! You just blew my mind!

Sometimes when one asks for an opinion and the opinion given simply not feasible. I would hope that it would be okay to reject that opinion. Besides giving out a google map address of my property to prove that a fence won't work I don't know what more I can do. I guess that makes me argumentative and a fan of winged horses.

A couple very good suggestions were made which I am going to actually use so this thread was worth writing despite all of the juvenile, rude, insulting and ill tempered responses :)

You know what I observe? You didn't read the whole thread, you have nothing worthwhile to contribute to it, yet you feel the need to voice an opinion about me.

No need to post google map. Look at it and draw up a quick little diagram to similar scale using MS Paint or the like.

But it is you so....

Yeah, I don't need to because I have ruled out fence. It is obvious a fence would be the most effective way of preventing this but I posted hoping for some alternative suggestions which I did get. There are some details I won't discuss on here for safety reasons as it would make it easy for people to figure out where I lived if they had any inclination to do so. And with the amount of people coming on just to simply be rude or insulting, it seems like the percentage of misfits and psychos on here is relatively high. It is a farm and fencing it is not good for many reasons. The boulder/post solution that was suggested will work great.

Just park a car at the end of the drive way blocking access. Have you called HR or emailed the local fire chief yet?

Fence, logistically given the way my property joins the vacant property is the worst and most expensive solution. Not to mention ugly. Not doing it.
And yes the property they drive on isn't mine, but there is a helluva huge difference between a couple kids frolicking through a field then a bunch of morons taking their on road vehicles and driving through a grassy area that they know is private property. And they use my driveway to access it, because they would bottom out and not be able to get in and out without it. I will be damned if I am going to sit idly by and let a few goofs ruin the serenity I pay through the nose for through taxes, insurance, and water haulage to get away with driving in or around my yard. I will put in some rocks and posts, put up a sign and I'm arming the kids with paint ball guns and teaching them how to memorize plate numbers. They like playing army anyway ;)

So let me get this one.

I was bored and figured what the heck I'll go back and see why I was wrong and I apologize for my previous statement it's obvious I didnt read the whole post.

That being said.

Armor stone will cost you a pile to block that off so I doubt you will to that. If the fence was an issue for the cost, I doubt you'll want to do this one. Front gate seems like your best option at this point. if you dont want to gate the whole laneway.

DONT shoot at vehicles. You get caught doing it and you'll have to prove why you where shooting at a vehicle and it can lead to some nasty charges.

You dont have allot of options on this one. Obviously the open space next to you is great but it's something you will have to deal with if you dont want to build something to keep them out.

Call landscaping company's and see what they might be able to offer.

End thread

feel the love.........

I guess folks take exception to the whole social aspect of a message board/forum, and are perturbed about brainstorming options when ideas that are put forth can't/won't/don't work for the OP are rejected (for the record, this is 'Romper Room', where endless discussions are inferred by the very title of the section...).

No doubt everyone would rather read just thrilling threads such as "WHaTz da bEst INsuraNCe", or dandies such as "sHOulD i bUy a SS 4 mY fuRsT BiKe" or my personal favourite "i GoT cAUGht spEeDINg in a ShOOl zOnE - hElP me BEat tHe ChARge so i CAn LoLz dO iT AgAiN".

Folks are just plain uppity these days. I recommend doing drugs and smoking, will help take the edge off.

Caution tape? Police Tape!

String it across the back of the driveway before the field, and if the owner doesn't care, at the real entrance. While you're at it, ask the owner about putting up a 'no motorized access' sign.

I'd offer some used police line, fire line, and similar goods if I could find my collection, I only know that it is in a shoe box somewhere.

You should also put up a Private Property - No Trespassing sign.
In some places, if people have a right-of-way for a given period of time (say a year) then it becomes a public right-of-way.
Maybe some paralegals/lawyers can chime in on this if there are any in the crowd.

Pretty sure I already have a good idea, neighbour. ;)
