Sometimes people use my driveway to access a field by my house....

Sooo.. you can post a sign...talk to people about it...or fence it.. If they can access the field from the road at the front and its not your property they have as much right to access it as your kids do (None BTW). Sounds to me like they will still get into it. So tell your kids to stop using the field or be careful. Not your land you cant tell people not to use it.

Fence, logistically given the way my property joins the vacant property is the worst and most expensive solution. Not to mention ugly. Not doing it.
And yes the property they drive on isn't mine, but there is a helluva huge difference between a couple kids frolicking through a field then a bunch of morons taking their on road vehicles and driving through a grassy area that they know is private property. And they use my driveway to access it, because they would bottom out and not be able to get in and out without it. I will be damned if I am going to sit idly by and let a few goofs ruin the serenity I pay through the nose for through taxes, insurance, and water haulage to get away with driving in or around my yard. I will put in some rocks and posts, put up a sign and I'm arming the kids with paint ball guns and teaching them how to memorize plate numbers. They like playing army anyway ;)

Simple answer is a fence, you can always have a gate in it. For short term put in some wooden stakes with caution tape on it at the point they are entering the field from your driveway/property, blocking the route (at the point you would put the fence). You need a marked barrier even if it is not truck proof they will get the message and all but the biggest jerks will go else where or take another route, tape and stakes are cheap. Fence is the long term solution, or maybe posts with a chain etc.

As for them using the field, no one but the owner has domain over the field... You may be able to call the police and complain about dangerous use of a motor vehicle in the field they may come and hand out some bogus tickets, big grey area may....

Rocks and posts seem like reasonable solution i can understand you not want to have people access via your property. It would annoy me to. However i still say you cant dictate how other people use the land but i kina get were your coming from. I don't suggest you shoot them with paintball guns cause that's assault and i'm sure if you interested in your kids safety you sure as hell don't want them hurting other people and getting in trouble with law. Not to mention you shoot through an open window into someone eye you can blind them sure these are all senariouse you want to avoid.

Another option is to speak to the land owners they would probably have some kind of interest in people not doing potentially dangerous stuff on their property. They will have better luck in policing it and they have the right to say what they can use it for. For all you know could be owners kids who are using it in that case your SOL

No, I know the owners and they do not want vehicles on the property and they know my kids are on the property and are fine with it. I was kidding about arming the kids with paint ball guns, well, sort of....
