Simoncelli. MotoGP. DEAD!!!

RIP Marco, you will be missed.

AGV is going to have some explaining to do. With his armor, he should have survived the blow to the back from Edward's front wheel. Albeit with many broken bones/internal injuries. With his helmet lifted off, he had no chance of survival. Time of death shows 14:56 local time, race started at 14:00, and was about six minutes in. If the force was that great to rip his helmet off (break the strap), it should have broken his neck, which would have resulted in instant death. That's not the case, as he held on for 50 minutes. Helmets at this level of racing should never fly off. And if they do, as gruesome as this sounds, they had better contain a head.

They performed CPR for 45-50min and he was pronounced dead when they stopped. I'm willing to bet he died on contact and they performed CPR "just in case".

Mike Taylor always held on to his bike as he went down too...every. effing. time. Bloody hell, let go of the thing - doing so could save your life!! (If you have the opportunity to make the conscious decision, that is.)

I'll give the 4 friends of mine who've all broken their necks racing MX and MTB a call and tell them that they're dead.

oh man if only he just let go of the bike he probably would not have gotten dragged back on racing line.
I wonder if he he actually passed out before he got hit? He was practically kissing his front tire and would have known better to cut across other riders. I say he wasn't conscious before he was brutaly run over

There are reports saying he most likely wasn't conscious at the time he veered across the track.

Oh man that pic is just too much...

Yep. I'd much rater remember him with this one.

There's breaking your neck (fracture) and "breaking" your neck (having it severed from your spinal chord). The latter, you're dead.

Wow, worse than I thought when I watched it. I guess Rossi did hit him after all. :(

I don't understand why he was so limp cutting in front of the other two riders? Was there a first impact before he collided with the last two?

Sic was in a lowside when "Simoncelli's bike then regained grip and veered sharply across the track in front of Colin Edwards and Rossi - dragging Simoncelli with it" from crash.net

So sad, I wish I didn't watch the vid in slow mo or see that pic:'(. Rip Marco. Very relieved that all Edwards suffered was a dislocated shoulder, in the slow mo vid you can see his head getting hit bad.

Man, I posted earlier, but I had this sick feeling all day, again rip to a great competitor. His passion to win was unmatched.

So sad to see you go far to early Marco

My heart goes out to Edwards and Rossi, I cant imagine how this is affecting them.

Deepest sympathy to all the families involved.
