Sat June 9- Ride 507/elephant lake/algonquin

Many a ticket have been written on the 507 due to this forum. Belive it ;)
He said he is planning to go through Algonquin, which is right there anyway.
.
Why would it matter if police are browsing this forum? You think they would really waste a day sitting on the side of the road just praying someone they saw post on the forum mentioning the road may be going by at possibly slightly more than the speed limit? I swear half the members are wayyyyy over paranoid here. Normally, police do not plan their day by what goes on on local forums.

And yea, about not being for beginners, depends how fast you go. I got my first bike (fz6r) in January of this year but this is my third season riding. I was following an experienced rider who knew the highways well. As a result of the 518 the left side of my rear is worn right to the edge, and on the right maybe 5mm of chicken strip left. Was a very fun day.

I wouldn't go fast on the 507, anyway. To actually push your bike in the corners you'd need to be going about 2x the limit. That plus it being a larger major route should put the common sense in people's heads not to push your luck on it. Just seems like a rural highway that the opp would be traveling often.

OK so here is the answers to all your questions:

Meet up spot:

As suggested by some and due to the length of the ride and trying to avoid inner city traffic we are meeting outside of the city.
We are leaving from 48 and (Major MacKenzie Road at 9:30 am sharp! have a FULL TANK!!!

FRQ - Frequently ride questions
1) is it 2up friendly?
well, if you are your 2up can stay on a bike for 10 hours then yes.

2) I noticed you mentioned 250cc, I have a 600cc can I come?
sure but we are riding relaxed not spirited.

3) When do you think we will be back?
I am hoping to leave the meetup spot at 9:30 am, and based on google the route is 10 hours 30 minuted. Add up stops for lunch break, gas, and to strech then do the math. I am sorry if this seems a bit rude, but I can not say we will be back at 6pm when we may not.

4) I want to come but plan to leave the ride half way, is that cool?
It is, just be sure to let me know in advanced, I am not looking to leave anyone behind and if I notice someone is missing the entire group will turn around/wait until we find him/her, its a group ride!. Otherwise, I do the ride solo I have no problem giving you the route.

5) Is this spirited or relaxed?
I plan to do a relax ride, I am not looking for speeding tickets and some of the roads we are taking will have cops. I am doing this in hopes of taking some people up this area since they have never gone that way on the bike.

Have you ever done a 10 hour day on a Ninja 250? You're in for a world of hurt hommie.

I'm afraid to ask, but why and where did you need to spend 13 hours on a Ninja 250?

Hahaha I did 2x days of 8hours each no problem. 10 hours google is usually 8 hours in real time and I am just used to it. :)
As to why so long on a ninja easy, I live in Toronto, the nice and fun roads are far and you need to put up with some pain to enjoy scenic and twisties

and many have ran :) and made it

Good chance of rain looks like.

i dont have rain gears ..............................................................DAMN>>> im too big ...............................

When I did the MSF there was a guy similar to your build (used to play football) and it started raining. so he bought one of the rainsuits the course offers in the biggest size they had, and it didn't fit him.

maybe a garbage might work? lol

dont worry lorenzo , its just a water :). its not going to kill you . also if it rains heavily , im sure we would stop somewhere until it gets better ...

Yasin

you guys are so bad!, anyways we will see how the weather moves up to Friday :) ..

Personally, I would much rather reschedule the ride than taking it in the rain, I have no problem riding with rain (with/without gear), but I think this is a long distance ride and can be mentally exhausting. If we were to add rain to it, then that would make it much more difficult for the riders, I want to make sure we all come back!.

You gotta be ******** me.....I've always wanted to do this ride... but I have my first 1000km service booked for Saturday at 8...and they said it takes 1 and 1/2 hours. Maybe I can get them to speed it up a bit!!
