Recent movies you saw - recommend or no

Hobo with a shotgun - done well, quite cheesy but very enjoyable. 7.5/10

That one should be interesting.. But isn't it supposed to come out in May? How'd you get to see it?

I got my hands on a couple of recommended movies.. Here's my take:
1) I Spit on Your Grave - Waste of my time. If you wanna watch exploitation films, you'll have a better time watching the late 70's/early 80's cannibal exploitation flicks.. This one was just crap without any spirit. Deleted immediately after watching.
2) The Wild Bunch - Pretty good western.. Doesn't quite "get it" but only a couple do, and this is definitely one of the better ones in the genre
3) True Grit - It's ok.. Nothing special, but not a waste of my time either.

Speaking of The Wild Bunch, if you like Ernest Borgnine, you should check out Emperor of the North Pole. He plays Shack - the ruthless railway man in this pretty good hobo movie. Lee Marvin plays A-No. 1 - the uber-hobo who goes up against Shack. Keith Carradine plays Cigaret - the young protege-hobo of A-No. 1.

Wild bunch is a lil diferent for sure....enjoyed it alot. Shoot out at the end is something.. I'm going to watch it again all the way through this time.
Searchers with JW is a bit different too.......I'd watch it again....not quite the standard JW character.
Thanks for the heads up...I'll see if I can come across Emperor of the North Pole for sure...always liked Lee Marvin's work.
How the west was won...Once upon a time in the west...John Wayne collection vol 1...Quiet man, Sands of Iwo Jima, wake of the red witch, Flying tigers...all coming very soon.
I tell ya...must be getting old...alot of old movies generally are far more capitivating to me than "most"..not all...new movies.

Nothing about getting old. Most of the Hollywood movies that I enjoy are from before my time, when they focused on quality cinematography. These days, it's all formulaic crap that panders to the LCD and doesn't really change or offer anything new. When it comes to recent films, it's mostly China, Europe, Japan, South America.
In most cases, due to our protectionist policies, many of the good ones never arrive in Canada and can't be had legally. If someone wanted to open a good foreign film distribution business, they'd choke on the red tape before getting rejected.

Watched re mechanic yesterday, was alot of fun. Was actually pretty intense.

I love it!
Jason Statham is pretty athletic, but his age is starting to show

Also saw forgetting Sarah Marshall yesterday, didn't know get him to the Greek's Aldous Snow came from there. Wonder if there are any references in Greek to forgetting Sarah Marshall. Fun movie overall.

Saw robin hood 2010 (the remake of a remake?) with Russell Crowe...I want my time back...wasted 2 hrs !!!

As much as I love Cate Blanchett, I wasn't about to waste my time on a depressing Robin Hood re-make with a dour, surly Russell Crowe. Kevin Coster also sucked (although other than that, the movie was pretty good), but is it *that* hard to find a decent Robin Hood??

Its an overused and depressing story. Movie was great in this regard. One of the worst movies I have seen in a while.

Brothers with Tobey McGuire and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Apparently there is another language version (the original) that is even better, but this one was pretty darn good!

lol I watched Get Him To The Greek last week, and the answer is yes :) Just one reference, where they're showing Sarah Marshall on another new cheesy show...can't remember what show they were spoofing...but it wasn't CSI this time.

I also thought Greek was just fricking hilarious. I hate P. Diddy because he ruined hip hop, but I had to respect the job he did in this movie lol. I was laughing my *** off in the Mindf**k scene. That was some insane **** hahaha

Sucker Punch - only watch this for eye candy. Don't bother trying to figure out the story; it's not suppose to make any sense.
