Watched Gravity in IMAX 3D yesterday. Good movie, nice experience and a solid 1h30 mins of 'what is gonna happen next?'

the camera work and imagery, along with the audio is brilliant.

Story is ok/decent.

watched it in non-IMAX but 3D. I'm still not convinced about 3D. While it is good in some aspects, I find it distracting in others.

I didn't pay for the tickets, but would have preferred the IMAX, Non-3D personally.
I find that with faster moving scenes, it adds an element of motion sickness; eyes can't keep up.

But the imagery in the movie and scene selection was very well done.

Saw Gravity: it was awesome. One of the few movies I think lends itself to 3D technology. I'd say it's must see on the big screen, IMAX, 3D, for the whole feeling of being lost in space.

Mrs. Wasted and I were looking for a movie the other day and didn't see anything that interested us. Decided to pick what we thought would be the best in a list of bad choices and saw Prisoners. I was surprised. I mean, it's not going to win any awards but it was entertaining, and I really did enjoy it. Pretty standard suspense thriller, but worth the price of admission.
7/10

Escape Plan was surprisingly good

Saw Project Nim yesterday (http://www.project-nim.com/). Amazing documentary of the life of a Chimp called Nim, the subject of experiments into cognitive behaviour. Sign language and all that but the documentary is so much more than that....I had it on the TV (movie chanel) in the background but ended up completely galvanised by it. If you're an animal lover there's a lot in this documentary for you, some sad parts too, but even if you're not, the callousness of human behaviour and the occasional coldness of pure science comes across really well.

Downloaded this to watch later, seems interesting to see with the family.

Saw this tonight at the movies based on your recommendation here. Haven't seen an action flick I like for a pretty long time, this was nice and entertaining. Best moment---"smile and say cabbage to the camera", A+++ :lmao:

Just watched Captain Phillips. If you like suspense/drama this is the movie for you. Tom Hanks doesn't disappoint. Gives a perspective why the pirates do what they do. Based on actual recent events

thoroughly enjoyed this movie! I came in there not expecting much despite the reviews but walked out very surprised at how good the movie is. Plus points for Tom Hanks' performance as well!

This Is The End. Watched it once and chuckled a bit. Watched it a second time and laughed my ass off.

where did you download Project Nim?

1) Go to www.utorrent.com and install the client.
2) Google "torrent project nim", first entry is good.
3) All the pages will have multiple download links for different methods, some of them with spyware, others paid, etc, what you need to look for is "download this torrent", "download via torrent", "download via magnet link", or something along those lines. Once you get the tiny torrent file (extension .torrent), it will either open automatically in uTorrent (step 1), or you need to open it manually through the program.

Disclaimer: I've never downloaded copyrighted stuff illegally.

The wife's halloween costume this year is Tippi Hedren from Alfred Hitchcocks The Birds. We rented it last night so she would have some additional references. Wow, it really shows its age (1963). All the characters are a little creepy, no music soundtrack, strange ending, etc. etc. Tippi's line delivery reminded me of GlaDOS from the Portal games.

I got this site from a friend, as I too have never illegally downloaded.
Torrentz.eu
It's a search engine for what you've described above.

Oh, yes, I met someone in the past, who said he was using torrentz.COM all the time with great success to find anything. Of course, I don't know if that's true. May be the same site too.

Man, you guys are "Kick"ing "***" for sharing this "torrents" stuff. Jolly good.

Thread Related: Saw Captain Phillips last night. Better than I expected, really not the typicial hollywood kinda movie (even though some things were obviously elaborated to make the story more interesting, but not in any way affecting the movie). Some tense scenes and Tom Hanks really shows the emotional drain a situation like that can have. I'd see it again.

Yeah, but keep in mind it's not legal to download copyrighted stuff. What I use these torrent sites is not to download, but to learn if a given title is out on dvd/blue ray already, so I can go and rent it. Goes something like this:

1) You hear about a title, then check it on www.imdb.com, see if it's something you wanna see.
2) Search for torrents of that title with "dvdrip" or "bdrip" in the file name. If you find any, now I know it's out on dvd / blue ray
3) Go to your local movie rent joint and borrow it legally.

That's what I do, yeah! I made a mistake earlier when I said I downloaded Project Nim, what really happened is I found out it's out on a disk and have all intentions to see it legally. Nuff said :)
