Land of Bad was pretty good. Wasn't expecting much but it delivered a decent story.

Believe me when I say that nothing in "Big Trouble in Little China" is unintentionally funny ;)
Oh you got some inside info?? Do share. I know John Carpenter is not your typical Hollywood director.

BTW just watched The Thing (orig) - it had it's missteps but still ok, great models.

No, no inside info. Just an abiding love of that movie.

Which "original" was that; the 1982 Kurt Russell film, or the one that it was based on ("The Thing From Another World" - 1951)?

Oh didn't realize there was another version of The Thing, I re-watched the Kurt Russell one, but not the 2011 with Mary Elizabeth, which I remember being ok ish as well.

James Arness (Matt Dillon - Gunsmoke) was the Thing in the original (The Thing From Another World).

not my usual fare but good review from Ebert
what else to do on a rainy day??
....leave it for later and sort the eBike.(y)

This however was brilliant

Even tho I’ve read the book and of course seen Patton, it is a wonderful portrayal of the best subterfuge ever pulled off. Good choice of cast and to see Fleming in the heart of it too.
BTW the book Body Guard of Lies is a real eye opener about what you THOUGHT you knew about WWII

Absolute eye opener for me - much of what it covered in the top secret archives was not released until 1994.
For me perhaps, the line " the most important book of WWII" was correct.

Purely for the music
I loved the TV series and the movie was a good translation to a more modern venue.
feed failed....this looks okay ...like the lead and music
damn what a difference watching the direct feed on the 4k tv instead of the laptop to the 4k...
Goes from barely watchable to decent 4k feed.

Watching the show every Saturday night was a staple for me and I really enjoyed the movie version. They did a great job keeping it accurate to the tv show (especially how it finishes out under song) and I agree the soundtrack is excellent.

A local Indian restaurant let us take thali back to the house to watch it. Good memories.

The Spinning Man did not do much for me despite the cast

This comes highly rated....hmm might have seen it a while back....
Good cast....Screen Shot 2024-07-06 at Jul, 6 2024 11.06.22 PM.jpg

Good so far - riveting and well edited docu and even Bush part of it..

Hearing Bush and Cheny and others narrate their experiences very good.

The latest instalment of the Godzilla / Kong franchise - it’s meh. They’ve really given up on the storylines and just let the monsters fight. Which I am sort of ok with
