Recent movies you saw - recommend or no

I was only soso on Don't Look Up tho the we got laughs from it. Lawrence played the role well but the genre not appealing generally tho some I like. The Informant was one of those.
So far iffy on Joy ...I didn't like Playbook either...did like her in Hunger Games.
Our tastes differ quite a bit then. I very much enjoy a good political parody. "Wag the Dog", for example. "Idiocracy" is another. I think that it all started for me with "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington", which definitely was not a parody. At least not an intentional one.

I'm not much on comedy at all tho mind you Michael Moore's stuff I enjoy....that's maybe satire tho.
I'm happier with British humour than American - the humour and commentary woven into A Passage to India appeals. The actor makes a difference as well ....Maggie Smith is a master in Downton Abbey and many others.1715887028663.jpeg was just a showcase for the best of the Brits.
That said Monty Python and Dr Who and such holds little appeal tho partner loves it.
Humour in the MCU is likely is/was its greatest strength.

I'm also a sucker for musicals, Tim Burton and I like the emergence of dramedy
...slapstick, straight comedy and horror movies ...nah.

Unlikely true stories well acted and told are by far my favourite,

I watched The Beekeeper recently with Jason Stratham . Very enjoyable action flick, didn’t disappoint .

It completely fell apart when he hopped out the window at the end and walked down to the waterfront. A thousand federal agents in the front and sides of the house, not a single one out back. No boats patrolling in the water. Yeah, ok.

Artistic licence…but yes, that was the only weird bit.

Recently watched a few Scarlett Johnansson movies, purely by chance

The Island - Not too bad for Micheal Bay

Ghost World - never knew of this movie, quirky teenish flick

Lost in Translation - Still good, interesting connection and setting.

Rewatched Payback last night on a whim. Better than I recalled. Plus Lucy Liu looking amazing is a great bonus.

Please tell me no one paid good money to see Furiosa??
I'm seeing these glowing reviews then finally got the obvious responses from the fans.....
Don't even think it will make to cult classic status (n) $168 million mess.

Nice bit for the stars to tarnish their filmographies
These kind of movies seem to be the trend these days in hollywood. Stack the cast with a few well known names, keep pushing those names in the media, show some great "cinematic" shots from the movie. Spam social media with over hyped reviews 10/10 masterpeice vague posts. But the narrative is totally lost and story is shi!.

Godzilla Minus One - really enjoyed it. Lots of touchy feely bits that wouldn’t have made the cut when the original came out. LOVED the inclusion of the Shinden fighter!

The First Omen - what can I say? I’m a sucker for a horror movie and ones that are part of a franchise esp. “decent” story - but mediocre to bad acting. Only recommend if this is your genre of choice. Nell Tiger Free is good as usual (Servant) although I wished they’d let her use her natural British accent instead of forcing her to be American.

It was definitely an interesting departure from the usual fare of just using Godzilla as an allegory for the bombing on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Pointing fingers at the Japanese Government's policies and tactics during WWII and the shame brought upon the protagonist for his actions made for one hell of a good story. it was also interesting that they had Godzilla's breath essentially set off a nuke where it hit.

I also thought Godzilla Minus One was an excellent watch.
Would like to have seen it in IMAX.
Just for comparison purpose i would also like to see the black/white version. Godzilla Minus One/Minus Colour. Apparently it gives it more of a documentary vibe.

Year One. Jack Black. Made it to the 20 min mark.

Fast Charlie. Interesting plot. James Caan's last roll.

Bingeing AppleTV this weekend. The Sennheiser headphones are superb both for BlueTooth range, battery life and sound quality and AppleTV delivers sound quality plus I like the wide screen presentation.
Good docu on LeCarré which I enjoyed

Historical doc on John Wilkes Booth 🍿
actually this is a series.....and history I knew nothing about (y)

There are a few series I might tackle or catch up on.
