🤨
Good cast, marginal CGi, the first flick with worse shooting than Star Wars. Very stilted dialogue...could use a
funnybone.
Glad to see him in action ...if you've not seen this on AppleTV ...it's very worthwhile and a very unlikely true story.
Book is excellent too.

On to part two considering myself a masochist. 🍿

Love the robot.
I watched part 1 of "Rebel Moon" and just can't bring myself to watch part 2. My God, that was bad.

It risks being a send up of the long term campy genre but part 2 is better FWIW. Some cool battle scenes and there are some steam punk interludes that are "interesting"
A steam punk space epic would be very interesting. He should do Peridido Station as a practice run.

Now if you want to get the Zack Snyder taste out of your mouth
...fantastic caste
🍿
Terrific production values.

at least my funky TCL 50" is working again after its illness but it's not entirely cured.

Unfortunately I get a "Video Unavailable" for that one, on both Canadian and US IP addresses.

Awww this one really needed 4k but is okay in HD
William Dafoe is a good narrator and I like the orchestra playing the music.
We saw the River version of this with the live orchestra in Melbourne last year. Dafoe narrated the film on the screen while the orchestra played live.

Watched Godzilla Minus 1

Was decent, even though the FX were pretty good and I think it won the academy award for it, still felt low budget. Story was kinda predictable, and some other major plot holes, and weirdly scripted (could be the foreign element). Worth a watch also interesting take on Godzilla.

Damn Peaky Blinders production quality has gone waaaaaay up. 🍿 More enjoyable and some of the women are stunning.

wow what a lovely 4k production
Widescreen format and good choices on cast. Visuals are just superb. - getting Disney+ direct through the TV is a revelation compared to trying through the laptop.
🍿
That was excellent ...not least how perfect Hillary Swank was for the role.
Need to find that plane.

I watched 3 movies over the weekend:

“Monster” - simply because it was mentioned in a previous post and I do have to concur it was quite depressing - I’ll never look at a wrench the same way again.

“Boyz in the Hood” ( for the umteenth time) Never realized it’s more about single fatherhood than thug life.

“Her”. In 2013 when this was released, most people probably thought the concept was rather far fetched. Now, 11 years later I predict AI is going to get to that point very, very soon.

Next movie I want to re-watch is Ex Machina. Maybe this weekend.

Ex Machina is a strange one, but I really enjoyed it when it first came out. Been thinking about watching it again, to see if I missed anything.

I really enjoyed Ex Machina in alarge part do to the star. What a prolific and talented actor.....and cute. :giggle:
The girl is a one person movie making machine. 3 movies in 2021 alone.
Dedicated too....she put on 12 lb of muscle for Lara Croft.

Not quite at Christian Bale level of body sculpting to a part but still....( if you've not seen Empire of the Sun you have missed the birth of a superb actor at 13. )

Still can't get used to Dinklage with a yank accent.

Three Billboards is great. Banshees I didn’t enjoy. Wasted a great cast on that one.

I watched The Beekeeper recently with Jason Stratham . Very enjoyable action flick, didn’t disappoint .

I haven't finished Banshees but would likely agree tho Keoghan and the donkey were good as was Farrel.
9 Oscar nominations and zero wins....clearly a few agreed with you.
Think the accents must have daunted a few yanks.....me too a bit.
Strange movie well executed ...reminded me of Sometimes a Great Notion
with a neutral observer .
( same author as Cuckoos Nest )

Staying in sombre as befits a rainy night
I'm wrong...not sombre at all
At the 95th Oscars, Empire of Light is nominated for Best Cinematography, in recognition of legendary DP Roger Deakins.

reminds me of last picture show …bittersweet - good acting but the quality of the picture is just jaw dropping.
wonder where they found all the vintage scooters.
overall wonderful tribute to "The movies".
Colman can act - I rarely get the visual impact that I am looking out a window at real life. Even the subtle background music and sounds adds to the magic.

nother true story and I like Jennifer Lawrence tho she was getting over exposed there for a while.
She blew me away in Winter's Bone

🍿

I was only soso on Don't Look Up tho the we got laughs from it. Lawrence played the role well but the genre not appealing generally tho some I like. The Informant was one of those.
So far iffy on Joy ...I didn't like Playbook either...did like her in Hunger Games.
