Recent movies you saw - recommend or no

The Whale - Excellent. About what I was expecting in the story but it was done really well.

Renfield - Only watched because of this thread and it didn’t disappoint. Fun story.

Hot Tub Time Machine - never seen it and took a chance. Silly humour but it was pretty enjoyable.

Revisited Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2. Quentin really has a lot of influences, plasted well throughout these movies. Also well executed, even if there might be plot holes he delievers the goods. Music of course was also excellent. Was a good re-watch.

Very Nordic...Thors mom from Ragnarok and a cute lead.

“Turn Me On, Dammit!”

TURN ME ON, DAMMIT!, (aka TURN ME ON, GODDAMMIT, aka FA MEG PA, FOR FAEN), from left: Malin Bjorhovde, Helene Bergsholm, Beate Stofring, 2011. ph: Tania Nyberg/©Sandrew Metronome Norge
“Turn Me On, Dammit!”
Awkward, horny teens eager for sexual satisfaction are hardly underrepresented in the entertainment world — hello, sex comedies — but films that center on teenage girls and their kinkiest desires are still outliers. Jannicke Systad Jacobsen’s Norwegian festival favorite doesn’t shy away from showing off just how gross, weird, and yes, horny as hell girls can be, too, all filtered through the experience of indomitable Alma (Helene Bergsholm). When the film opens, Alma’s sexual awakening is already chugging right along, though it’s about as tragically amusing as it gets, punctuated by routine calls to a phone sex line and a mother who just doesn’t get it. Alma’s life gets both worse and better when a popular peer pokes her with his penis at a casual gathering (romance!), and she refuses to let him live it down, alternately turned out and a little freaked out. Her isolation grows (turns out, high school kids are awful), but her libido won’t be tamed — a strange mix that adds up to a risky, funny feature topped off by some big truths.

The feeling reminded me of the Rita series.....very unabashed.

Teen night

I just watched the Babylon 5 animated movie "The Road Home" last night. Good stuff, however, you can really feel the missing original cast members. No one will ever deliver a line with the passion of Andreas Katsulas. I found this cast picture that shows the members who have passed and added Mira Furlan.

Wow that is a throw back. I was not into the series, kinda forgot about it, but had friends who were.

I've got the boxed DVD set, including all the previous movies, and take it out every couple of years for a complete rewatch.

Equalizer 3 (y) Does anyone else go to the movies?
Not for years. Even before Covid. I always seem to have the open mouthed crunching, burping, cell phone On, talkative people sit behind me. The last one I went to, it was almost great. Theatre to ourselves, sitting on the left side 3/4 way up, 6 people max in the whole place. Three people come in and sit ride behind us. Knocking my chair with their knees, my wife and I both start to giggle like there is an arrow pointing above us reading "LOSERS". We get up and move to the middle. Never set foot in a theatre again. I like my Netflix now. :ROFLMAO:

Agree with this 100%
The one way to maybe help with this is to do the VIP theatres. Eliminates some of these issues, and you can drink beer.

I used to go to matinees in order to avoid the idiots with their cell phones, or the ones who spend the whole movie kicking the back of my seat. Middle of the week even, not just weekends. Now the high prices and even higher ones for "preferred seating" have convinced me that paying $20+ for early streaming access to watch a movie on a 50"+ 4K TV, while eating and drinking my own food instead of a $20 small box of popcorn and bucket-o-soda, is well worth it.
