Recent movies you saw - recommend or no

I just watched the 2009 Stepfather remake.. Take a pass on it.. Took elements from the 3 originals and tried to do something but didn't quite get there.. Dylan Walsh has to look up to see Terry O'Quinn's kneecaps when it comes to acting performance and what's the deal with the lack of the tune? 1987 FTW!!!

Outrage - The 2010 Yakuza movie.. The big boss tells the boss of one of the families working under him to pick a fight with an independent family that he had a good/profitable relationship with, so he sends out a crew to do the dirty job. The story is told from the perspective of that crew. Not much to offer other than a whole lot of bloody gory violence (and then some and it is pretty well done).. Not a waste of time, but not a keeper either.

Captain America- mindless & generic. Still had to go because I'm helpless when it comes to comic book moivies.

Bridesmaids - Heard some good things about it. Maybe that was it's downfall? I was expecting better. It had it's momments but, it wasn't that great.

Sucker Punch - See Captain America. Has a little more style and the action was pretty cool but, still lacked substance.

The Adjustment Bureau - was pretty impressed with this one. Didn't know much about it going in. Came away plesantly surprised.

Lincoln Lawyer - It took a lot of courage for me to start this one as seeing Matthew McConaughey makes me want to turn off the TV or walk away completely. The guy just can`t act. However, I did find it was a good story and was well done.

Cowboys and Aliens - I'm sure a bunch of Hollywood types were sittin' around and having a huffdown trying to figure out something completely absurd that'll still sell. They sure as hell didn't go for greatness, hell, they didn't even bother coming up with an actual title. The script is very basic and nothing really original about anything in there. What saves this movie is the cast, which is good, so the movie wasn't a waste of time, but it's not a keeper either.

Watched 'Hesher" last night with Natalie Portman and some other guy I recognize from teen movies back in the day...dark humor, at times was pretty funny (or sad, depending on who you are). Basically reminded me of Otto when he moved in with the Simpsons. Its about manning up and taking responsibility for one's actions, with many other important life experiences, such as teaching your grandma to hit the bong. I nearly choked.

Thout source code was a bit weak. Check out www.icefilms.info. I hooked my laptop to my tv so now it's like I have super Netflix. Great site. Follow the setting up ice films for dummies and they stream perfect. Or they are able to be downloaded in 12 minutes.

Enjoyed sleepers. Which I saw recent. True story about kids that go

Cowboys and Aliens. Waste of time. Very expensive actors, very expensive special effects. If they had bothered to put a few dollars aside to pay someone to write an actual story, they might have had something decent. As it is, they wasted a good premise and a fine cast to make a ridiculous, boring, stupid movie.

Picked up all 5 seasons of "The Universe" series on History Channel. So far, I've watched one episode on the Sun and it just blew my mind. Highly recommended

Ironclad - Waste of time. The action is crap, the historical authenticity went down the tubes and the story is typical "USA USA USA RAH RAH RAH DEMOCRACY DEMOCRACY DEMOCRACY" crap set in the 13th century. Don't bother.

Stake Land - Vampire flick. Nothing special (the vampires are kinda cheesy as well), but not a bad rent anyway. The same bad guy as Death Wish 3 lol

I watched Blow on my flight home from Vancouver.. Awesome flick, hadn't seen it in years.

Inside Job, a documentary about the subprime loans and the housing bubble that caused this whole recession/depression fiasco.

really well done and really put it in perspective....and shows how NOTHING has changed or will.

Highly recommend planet of the apes. VERY well made and acted. Story flowed so well. Found it to be more enjoyable than Captain America.

Agreed with Firestart on Ironclad... total POS.

Rise of the POTA was pretty good, certainly better than the Tim Burton film. I found it funny that the producers spent so much effort to make the apes three dimensional yet the real human characters were so one dimensional. It's really based on Conquest of the POTA rather than the Charleton Heston original. The sequel will then be a remake of the first POTA, if you paid close attention, there were clues that point to this.

Change Up - Worth watching. Lots of funny spots but be warned theres plenty of spots where you don't want to even look at the screen anymore (you'll know what I mean when you see it).

Captain America - Pretty boring and I was wanting the end to come sooner than it did.

Bridesmaids - I went into it thinking it was "The Hangover - female version" so maybe that's why it felt like a letdown.

Horrible Bosses - just an all-around great comedy. Recommended.

Skyline - Comparable to War of the Worlds but without the annoyance of Tom Cruise. Wasn't overly stressed out by any of the characters or the acting however I spent much of the movie deciding I would be better at hiding from aliens than anyone in the movie.

Movie fell apart for me in the last 5 mintues, really thought they could have taken the plot a different way but over all an ok way to spend killing some time.

Paul - A decent comedy with plenty of laugs. Not as good at Hot Fuzz, but it may appeal more to the North American audience. Imagine 2 comic book fans traveling in an RV with the ET version of AGAVE
