Since the GG is such a ceremonial, generally useless role. I say we kill the monarchy (not necessarily literarily). Give the head of the AFN the governor general responsibilities. It would be a big, only symbolic move towards reconciliation. Maybe we can hear less about colonization then.

Also, is would be nice to cut funding to the entitled inbred, molesters and we wouldn't need to fund another election.

Just starting an idea. can't say I've gone too deep into it.

Why? Native people can't be trusted? The role has no power.

Why was there no issue with a president being elected other then the cost but having a Native person in a ceremonial role would be disastrous?

It has some power. GG can extort the elected government to get their way if they choose.

Nothing to do with native people can't be trusted. A lot to do with a GG could decide to use their position to right historic wrongs. If PM wants to prorogue parliament to avoid being found corrupt, just hand over Pearson. PM would fold in a heartbeat.

That was the correct approach imo. Acknowledgment and a moment of silence instead of billions wasted in useless pandering. I wonder how many planes of wankers we are going to pay to fly over to take part.

From what I understand, all have been asked to fly commercially and take a bus as a group. Apparently Biden said 'sorry, cant'....lol. Wonder what JT will do.

I think it would be viewed as mockery, ceremonial position with zero authority. Might as well have the appointee report to work in a head dress.

It's just federal employees. Federslly regulated industries like Rail,air,marine and banks are not included unless their province says so.

Close, yes it turns out only federal employees get the day automatically. Federally regulated employees (that do not work for the gov) it is up to the employer, they made it optional. Provinces have no jurisdiction or say for any of them.

Provincially regulated including gov employees (non-fed) it is up to each individual province. Some provinces said off, some said no, some are optional. Depends on the province.

Using 2012 numbers (newer is very hard to find). 375,000 employees averaging $114,000 on the federal payroll. At 260 working days per year, that puts a day off at $164,000,000. That's not quite accurate as most have four plus weeks of vacation so another day is far more than 1/260 of their working time eliminated. Add in escalation of number of employees and comp over the last decade (probably shocking) and the knock on effect of overtime, people trying to get things done that are impossible with gov't not working etc and imo we are over 1B in economic impact for sockboy to virtue signal. Piece of crap.

I am under CLC (fed reg), official word from the company is use a vacation day if you want it off....

As noted once it was clarified. Fed regulated employers it is optional to give the day off or not. Nothing forced private sector wise.
