No such thing as a Canadian (although I could probably make that claim, the first Rain having first visited here in the 1630's, coming back for good in the late 1650's.)

You guys/your families migrated to this country from some ******** to make your lives better, and you have the nerve to just dismiss the countries entire past and culture and claim it doesnt exist? This is the only Canadian forum ive seen that people do this and its ok. Not dismissing anything here. My peeps founded this country. But when I ask someone where their obviously-slavic last name is from and I get "Canadian"... I mean come on.
All our last names were created some 600 years ago or so. Wherever that name's from, that's where you're from.
Simple concept.

Being Canadian is not just somewhere you live, its a lifestyle and a culture. Id rather see that slavic person say hes Canadian rather then Croatian or Serbian if this is his home. People should be assimilating to the culture rather then dismissing it when they move here to live. Id rather see immigrants mix with EVERYONE rather then just stick with their own "people" and pretend Canada doesnt exist.
