you want to show your religion is one of peace? don't sympathize with the terrorists, educate them on their misinterpretation of the koran and if they will not listen act to stop them from terrorizing.
Its hard to clap with one hand... especially when so many provocations around...
Who the heck is sympathizing with their actions... understanding the circumstances and agreeing with tge results are two seperate things

See, we've got something now called the internet, and despite some government's best attempts, you can still find absolutely everything on the internet -- legal or otherwise.
As such, you will absolutely never be free of your Muhammad cartoons.
But you know what will make them go away -- if you and all the other Muslims of the world ignored them.
The reason why there are not a lot of nasty cartoons of Jesus, Mother Mary, God, etc, is because most Christians and Catholics simply don't care. Sure these cartoons exist, but they don't get press because no big deal is made of it... no murders, no protests, nothing. That doesn't mean these Christians like these cartoons, but they also don't feel that their faith is threatened by them so they don't put much though to it. You could learn something from that reaction.
If no one cared about these cartoons, who would bother drawing them?
On the other hand, fear will not make people stop. Fear will get certain people's back up and their reaction will be to come back with a vengeance. As Crusingirl said, just look at how many more of these cartoons have been published since this happened... maybe exactly what these shooters actually wanted?

Perhaps that was the motive.. at this point only thing we know is their names
If all the "nice" Muslims condemn jihadism, why don't they do a better job at outing the extremists? It's like bystanders at a gangsta shooting, no one wants to talk.

Killing the cop had nothing to do with his religion. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
What MotorcycleMike wrote is exactly what I believe too. If everyone ignored the cartoons then no one would bother to draw them anymore. As viewed from the outside world any Muslim who would kill because of a cartoon is completely insane. Criticism of Islam is everywhere, so why focus on the criticism that takes the form of cartoons? Because it depicts the prophet? The outside world thinks that's an extremely stupid reason to become violent, and it's not understandable, it's insane.
If someone left a bag of potatoes on your front step every morning would anyone think it was understandable if one day you killed them? No. That would be insane. Exactly the same way that we think that violence in response to cartoons is insane.
What does more to fan the flames of Islamophobia? Some ******** that create satirical and sometimes offensive cartoons? ******** that none of us had ever heard of until a few weeks ago. Or some whackadoo Muslims who would kill because of those cartoons?

You typed it out and hit submit. I want you to give examples of extremist priests and rabbis that have counseled, funded, and/or armed followers then steered them towards committing murder in the name of their faith. Just like your grade 10 math exam, show your work.
last i checked it was the western governments hell bent on helping saudis kill people who want democracy in saudi arabia.. so only you can answer that heck we have been shouting for it for a long while.. but assad is for some reason a greater threat even though he is secular and partly democratic...

this thread is full of dumbObviously not all Muslims are extremists and want to cause harm. It is a smaller percentage. Just like not all white people are racists against black people only a smaller percentage. Hate and discrimination of something different is everywhere within everyone.
This is humanity at it's core. We just use religion as an excuse to justify killing those who are different. All religions do it ... they say it's protect and defend.
If you really want change stop viewing people as what you see them to be at first. View them as someone who is like you.
