Orangeville and Africa

Had an interesting day today, I swapped over the air hawk over to the KTM, in hopes of making the bike more plush...(that seat really is a 2x4), it seems to have worked...my tailbone feels normal riding it now...

Also for the last little while i've wondered what it would be like to ride a bike I can flat foot...so in the process of removing the airhawk, I discovered the AT has an adjustable seat height! so I put it into the lower position, swap out the airhawk and HOLY **** this totally transformed the africa twin...I dont know if its the lower seat height...or that I removed the air hawk and am directly connected to the bike(or both?)...but it is freaking AMAZING!

I can easily flat foot now...feels like Im sitting in the bike...and the level of feel, feedback and confidence is through the roof!

I know exactly what the chassis, and wheels underneath me are doing...

My rider triangle feels more sporty as well(knees feel a touch higher, almost sport touring-ish, halfway ready to drag knee almost)

seriously in love with this thing...

I think for boring stretches of road, or long tours on the highway, the airhawk is fine, but around any decently long fun road, you gotta chuck it in the bag or leave it at the hotel.

Also shoutout to dominick at budds mottarad, I know (and am known) to many motorcycle sales guys in ontario, but he's probably the most honest and standup one I've ever met.
Whenever I purchase a BMW bike, it will only be through him, no cap.

Dominick is great. Almost had me cave in on that M1000R.

It's sooooo pretty...........

These service depts are def stretched thin...need to get the break in service done on the ktm, looking at at least a month on pretty much every dealer...

Shouldn't the dealership that just cashed the cheque be more responsive? When you drop a lot of coin for a toy and everybody knows the first service comes up really quick, they should talk with you to guess at time and book the appointment at the time of purchase.

Do it yourself.

Take pictures.

Keep detailed records and receipts.

Change the oil and filter. Check over all the "painted witness marks" to see if anything moved.

I'd check the headstock to see if the head bearings loosened up/seated.

Adjust the chain.

Clean it and give it a once over.

Consumer protection act, (and the Magnusson/Moss act in the u.s.)

Dealer can't deny warranty claims if you use another mechanic (or yourself if you're competent) to do the servicing.

To deny a claim, they'd have to prove that something you did improperly caused a warranty claim.

Sort of. Unfortunately many "warranty" claims are actually outside of the documented warranty and get processed as a goodwill claim. Dealer can ask manufacturer to cover and provide the story (good customer, came from competitor brand, etc). If you do the service, the odds of a dealer fighting for goodwill coverage are lower.

Never had an issue with my Tuono.

I did everything, including the 20,000km valve check and service.

Just saying, its the lesser of two evils. If they expect you to leave a new bike un-ridden for months, waiting for its 1,000km service, that the dealer can't provide...

The dealer you brought it from should give you priority…

Lucky you live in the GTA. Imagine needing service while riding at Pickle Lake?

You'd really be in a pickle.
