Orangeville and Africa

no fuel gauge either
I tried a throttle lock but it was trash, kept 'slipping' after I applied it...

Gonna try a cramp buster next.

I've used the plastic throttle lock. It won't hold for extended periods, but it's certainly good for short breaks, useful when you want to stretch your hand, scratch your butt, whatever.

The adjustable aluminum one, though more expensive, is the one to get. More robust than the plastic. Still won't hold for a long period, though.

A Cramp Buster might make things more comfortable, but it will not hold a constant speed.

I found these to be useless on any bike I've had. Set it, and immediately it starts rolling off the throttle.

Threw them out.

You can try a Seat Concepts kit or complete seat. Usually they're wider in the back half for cruising, but keep it narrow up front for technical stuff. I love the kit I installed onto my SXV's OEM seat pan. I've also seen some others on here with a SC seat on their 690, so maybe they'll chime in.

I replaced the OEM seat on my X with a Seat Concepts. 10x better than the OEM. Had to drive a LONG way for it, but price was good, and I got a nice drive out of it.

no fuel gauge either 🙁

Uh oh I thought that was a sticking point for the next bike.
How the hell does a bike in 2023 not have a fuel gauge, even Harleys have those!
I guess you'll have another bike next week??

I know!
To be fair, the KTM is a glorified dirt bike, ducati's got no excuses!

I guess you'll have another bike next week??
Ya know...now that you mention it...I did see a very nice BMW at GP...

I like the old school Vista cruise or nep cruise and a throttle rocker. No issues. Nep makes it easy to adjust tension for your bike. I set them to hold forever but will slip easily if I grab on.

The BMW Heritage line also lacks a fuel gauge, what you get is a countdown of kms that you ride when the bike hits reserve - do the math to prevent running out of gas!

My wife kept a grease pencil on her when she rode, she would scribble the next fill mileage onto the glass of her speedometer.

🤔

Are you shipping for a replacement already?

More seat time thoughts:

The handguards on the KTM are legit. They feel sturdy
The ones on the AT by comparison are purely decorative and flimsy.

Really like the the feeling I get riding the KTM, feels like im going really fast, then I look down at the speedometer and just laugh...it feels faster than it actually is...

Its packed full of 'performance' electronics (IMU, cornering Abs, TC, quick shifter...) but its all working in the background, and not thrown in your face...no big fancy dash, no 50 different buttons that do different things...has a very basic minimalist dash and switch gear...

Its high tech but feels low tech...with one button you can turn off TC, another button disables ABS....if you get the optional extra dongle, you can keep front ABS but disable rear.

It gets a lot of attention, random dudes in trucks everywhere giving me thumbs up, like they've all rode dirt bikes at some point and know of the orange goodness that is ktm...

I got an extra throttle lock last time I ordered from Aliexpress. You can have it if you are interested.
how do you like yours?

I like it because for less than $10, I have sort of cruise control; no need to keep my right hand in the throttle in the endless straights to get out or into Toronto.

I tried it after installing grip puppies, so the operation it's a little jerky because the "device" does not slide as swiftly as it would do with regular grips. Besides that, it is fairly easy to use.

Let me know if you want me to take the extra one next time I attend a BurgerRR meeting.
