Can you even drive like that?

I heard he can but it looks more like this. Soccer mom mobile and all
About a month ago I had a flat tire. Went to the shop to fix it, and got offered a set of snows (for free)... so hey why not, particularly after following this thread.
So I have owned the truck for 12 years and this is the first time it has had snow tires.
The thing is stuck in my driveway... for the first time in 12 years.
 the tire shop found a way to dump old snow tires on unsuspecting customers so it doesn't have to pay a disposal fee. Brilliant!!
todays lesson, just because they LOOK like they have a lot of tread still on them. Doesn't mean they are still any good.
There is a reason why they were "free". Most snow tires lose their capabilities after 3-4 seasons (your mileage may vary)
Case in point, years ago, I put a set on my wifes car for its 4th season. She came home, after being stuck in deep snow at work, and swore up and down her tires "weren't biting and grab the way they used to". I looked at her tires and said she was nuts because they still had massive tread depth, and I dismissed her claims.
Sure enough, next major snowfall, she got stuck pulling out of our driveway. If I didn't see it, I would not have believed it.
Needless to say, put a fresh set on, and never heard a complaint since.
Lots of thread left
No doubt.
Sounds like kijiji material. "Like new, gently used tires $450. No low ballers"

No, I meant this thread. No doubt, there's lots left.
My snow tires don't usually even have tread left after 2-3 seasons...
you mean, 48 pages isn't enough?
Hahaha, funny thing because the last guy I helped asked me the same thingLast two people I helped, first thing they did was ask, "Can you drive my car?"
How many kms per season and what type of tires?
If you drive 2km per month or around 10km per season there is no reason a good quality set of snows shouldn't last 5 seasons or more
Are you missing a few zeros there? I drive at least 50 km per day. Used to do more. I also drive very aggressively. My tires don't usually last long either from loss of tread or other issues. I'm also incredibly picky about vibrations.
As curator of this fine thread you should be delighted. I would think.
Not really, delighted about this thread though, that I started under a different username back in 2010.
You see the pattern though? Guy knows what's best for everyone.I. Did. Not. Know. That. (Stolen from Johnny Carson)
