Ontario should make winter tires mandatory.

Umm have you seen %90 of the drivers ed teachers driving around? Those idiots can't drive either and they're just teaching their terrible skills/habits to other people who have no business being behind a steering wheel.

The one's in Brampton are WEAPONS.

And speaking of driver training, there's nothing like almost getting sideswiped sitting at an intersection by an 18 wheeler with PAY LESS TRUCK DRIVING INSTRUCTION on the side of the trailer. So comforting, knowing there's DZ instructors who will train you for the cheapest price humanly possible.

And who was the idiot who thought it was a good idea to increase trailer length to 53'? The idiots need 2 1/2 lanes to get around corners in the city now. I'm sure the trucking industry's lobby group must have spent a few K in bribes to push that one through.

Gotta say, its quite comical being down here in the southern US enjoying sunny weather and seeing all the Quebec plated vehicles cruising around with their winter tires on.

They were laughing on the drive down through Georgia.

I remeber my first snow in Missouri. 2 inches and the world came to an end. I drove to work with the top down in my eclipse just for effect. They have no idea down there how to deal with any of it

Had to use my jeep with all season tires (they are rated M+S but they're not winter tires) to pull my neighbour's VW that has winter tires out of his driveway this morning... go figure

If you get high centred on a windrow it doesn't matter what sort of tires you have, because they ain't on the ground.

I just looked at what provinces and states require winter tires. Quebec is the ONLY one in north america. WTF if wrong with flatterio. Some regions in the west require snow tires OR chains when it snows, but there are serious mountains. Winter tires won't change anything. We can make tracks mandatory and people will still rear end eachother.

@Sunny S

I have noticed you often post a sort of rallying cry when there are numerous weather related collisions and deaths in Ontario and I just thought I would bring this to your attention.

It's in French so you'll have to google translate. This was the day after your Jan 27 post as the storm moved into Quebec.

2 Deaths, and several different large multi-vehicle pileups, all in a province with mandated winter tires? From the same system that cost 3 lives in Ontario?

Went to Tremblant over the weekend and found that they don't clear their roads very well in some areas.
Is that because everyone has snow tires?
I didn't have much fun backing down a twisting mountain road in the dark to get a second run at it.

Growing up we always had snow packed roads, they didn't clear em all the way down. Prevented a lot of black ice from forming.

One who drives that **** in public. Two why the hell would you take it out on a day like that. Total moron.

Today, is the day when I'd like to have them (second day this season so far) .... needless to say that all these vehicles with winter tires and driving like slow pylons and doing silly stuff going downhill. Has most people not heard of engine breaking, downshifting etc. it's amazing, truly is ....

Most people drive automatics. I was in my AWD with snows wondering why the hell everyone is going so slow. If it weren't for the traffic I'd be excited for my drive home.

AWD + traction control off, and this is me today :D

I was on The Gardiner at 6:00am, today, wondering why so many people thought that they should be doing less than 50 Kmh in the centre lane, when the road was little more than wet, while I was driving said unfamiliar car with all season tires. Get over to the right! You're slowing EVERYONE down!!
