Ontario should make winter tires mandatory.

Ok...you needed winters tires for the first time this year and for the duration of the snowfall. Most of the heavy stuff came down between 11pm to 2am. I know because I was north of the city from 7pm to 1am.

By 7-8am Sunday morning, most of the snow was cleared and by then you didn't need snow tires. How does this short amount of time justify anyone to buy snow tires or even a vehicle with 4x4/AWD ability?

It’s just like my argument with the Canada Goose jackets. Most the people wearing them are only exposed to the cold 30-40 mins through the entire day.

I just dont like Trolls who hide behind their keyboards spewing ********.

99% of drivers....right, you're the 1 in 100 cars thats gods gift to driving? GMAFB.

Normally what you write is idiotic, but this part is actually bang on.

.
Shhhh, I enjoy reading his post & hear the reaction he creates.

Quite entertaining

trollee:eek:

Can't remember if I mentioned it yet. I drove pretty fast (for conditions) the other day without the one season tires. Everybody else seemed to struggle at much lower speed. Except couple people were going faster than me, but they're idiots.

Winter tires are not just for snow, hence why they are called winter tires nowadays not snow tires :).

I'm sure i could make it back and forth to work on bald tires every day, but why the heck would i want to. Just the fact that i have tires that actually have traction in any condition during the winter months so i can avoid all the other idiots on the road, makes them a worth while purchase.

Now i know you're trolling because nobody is this dense.

For one, It snowed ALL day saturday, half a day sunday and we're slated for more snowfall today. Only major roads are cleared. Side streets are not, nor does the world revolve around ****ing Toronto. Most of Ontario doesnt have snow cleared everywhere. This morning it was -24C. Guess what kind of grip those all season tires had? Like granite they were...

But you keep on trucking along thinking you're mr bad ***. Theres a light pole or a ditch with your name on it.

BTW, I asked you to come and show me your amazing driving skills, If you're so confident theres an easy grand for you...but then again, we all know that reality and your imagination are on two totally different planes of existence.

My avatar used to be troll :)

Good god you're so full of **** your eyes are floating....

I spent 12 hours on the road on sat, majority of vehicles in the ditches were cars, not SUVs, CARS, FWD run of the mill sedans and econoboxes.

Lets have a little meet up, my Grand Cherokee vs your POS rusted out acura and we'll do a course consisting of accelerating, turning and breaking. I will hand you a thousand dollars if you do better than my SUV. I will let GTAM and this post stand by my call out.

I owned a RWD BMW's, Volvos and Mustang, a FWD Golf, Maxima, and Two Civics and now i own a 4x4 Grand Cherokee and NONE of those vehicle even on winters came close to the stability that the GC is showing. I have to be a total idiot behind the wheel and actually TRY to make it loose traction before it steps out of line.

Ill accept that challenge. 2003 acura el 1.7 basically a civic with acura badges.

Where and when?

Bring the cash in brand new 100s.

No, this is about rubbing that idiots face in his own stupidity. I want to see his face when a 4700lbs SUV out accelerates and outcorners his "lowered, all season wearing" lighting mobile.

same car...we can put this theory to the test :D

out accelerates yes, outbrake? unlikely. outhandle? its gonna be tough to outhandle a 2800lb car with a 4700lb suv...awd or not

Not far fetched. When you're skidding you're losing valuable time trying to just stay on course. My $ goes to the vehicle with better traction but heavier.

Also a heavier vehicle will push the wheels into the snow. More grip

If I had an suv I'd take you up on that offer

Screw it, lets take the money out of equation but i do want to go and have some fun in the snow and video it.

let me know where and when.

Yes the SUV weighs more, but like RockerGuy said, the weight does help generate traction. This is why Rally cars in winter stages drive on really really skinny tires. Pound per square inch goes up as the foot print is made smaller. This pressure digs down and generates traction.

This is a dangerous line of thinking. Snow tires do not guarantee traction in all winter conditions but they help.

Driving my Wife's Santa Fe with 4WD and winter Tires and my honda civic with all season tires is a whole different experience. I feel very safe with her on the road in that car, me not so much

Isnt that what you're hoping to achieve?

This recent storm dumped the same crap on Toronto and Montreal, in fact it's worse in Quebec, colder, icier.
CTV news was doing a piece on the storms and mentioned Ontario police reported well over 1000 collisions where as Quebec had only minor incidents.
Bad drivers will always exist, can't fix stupid, but having snow tires is definitely worth it.
