Ontario should make winter tires mandatory.

hey feathers are slippery

That's true, whenever i see a dead seagull on the road, i run it over again, just to be sure.:evil2:

As for winter tires, i have 2 sets of wheels, i can swap them out in 20 mins if i need to.

After 600+ replies plus exceptional 2 min video I think the evidence is overwhelming pro winter tire in winter and cold conditions. I will get winter tires when hell freezes over or go to Montreal.

I think hell just froze over.....Nokian WRG2 all weather tire outperforms winter tires? In winter? Edmonton Police seem to think so.

It's not a matter of not understanding, it's a matter of how much crap do I need to buy and store? It's really that simple. As an example, I have brand new 10yr. old Honda generator in case of ice storm. Only ran once to check. Should I have life raft in case of flood? Could happen. Finally ditched snowblower I use once a year. Took up to much motorcycle space.

Then there's the person living on their 30th floor 400 square foot condo with no storage allowed in the garage. What do they do with the off seasons? End tables?

 What condos/apartments don't have storage lockers. Seriously, that's weak.

Edmonton is not a fair comparison to Ontario , and GTA specifically. I just flew home friday from Edmonton, spent a week in North Alberta in a rental car with no snows. The very dry snow is different to drive on and when its -30 (for days on end) its not greasy like wet Ontario snow, they also gravel and sand the crap out of the road ways , since salt is useless in that temp so you have better alround driving surfaces, and not many hills in a prarie city.

The Edmonton local police also have a large number of AWD and 4wd vehicles at their disposal. The RCMP are mostly large sedans with snows, and they get the rest of the province to police.

Seriously, that's weak. Forgot to ask, how are you're arms?

Funny, I found a way to fit snow tires and rims on my car with "aftermarket" over sized brakes and the car has awd!!! With all seasons the go part was very easy, it was the whole stop and turn thing that made driving a 300whp car complicated.

Exactly. He never responded to my enquiry as to what vehicle he has, so that excuse might be weak. You can usually go up a size or two in diameter to clear larger break rotors, and there are thousands of aftermarket wheels available out there. I went from 288mm to 331 dia. rotors on the front, and I had no issues with finding a wheel to fit.

ok i present geography, climatic differences, vehicle choice and road maintenence and my comaprison is weak. OK.....

and my arms are tired.

Temperature alone. The big selling feature seems to be anything below +7, you got a rubber problem. Edmonton winters are always below +7.

Go read the posts again Einstein's. The point was cheap steelies aren't an option. Obviously alloy wheels are available, at added cost.

Better winter driving grip in the prairies vs the GTA!

You do realize in every day driving cold prairie city roads pack the snow into ice. Sand may help, but sand speckled in ice still doesn't equal the traction of an actual road surface.

Prairies = longer colder winter with snow turning into ice, and limited salt effectiveness. GTA = shorter mild winter with high salt effectiveness
Go check toronto street cams right now versus Edmonton street cams and observe road conditions. It's pretty obvious which road conditions would be better to drive in without snow tires.

I have a harder time finding performance wide 15" tires than I do finding large diameter, low profile, winters...

I have two sets of rims and one set of rims with tires on my balcony right now, lol.

LMAO! I once gave a toaster to a friend who lives in a Condo on Front Street. They gave it back to me because they have no room in their condo! Condo's and Winter Tires are two of the biggest scams.

My dealership offered to store them for me, for a pretty reasonable fee.

Sorry to break it to you, they just didnt want your junk. They can afford a condo on front st. im sure they have their own toaster.

Oddly enough my snow tires were getting better traction on the snow covered roads this morning than you summer tires. Good scam.
