Ontario should make winter tires mandatory.

Do you know what this thread is about?

Judging from the majority of your posts in the thread, it's about coming up with hypothetical questions in an attempt to counter other people's statements.

Soooooooo, would Spartacus have been able to defeat the Roman army if he had a Piper Cub for aerial surveillance? He came pretty damn close without one. It may have been what he needed to turn the odds in his favour.

The whole thread is a hypothesis you nutbar! Namely; that if winter tires were mandatory in Ontario, then we would all be better off.

And if our resident brain surgeon Sunny happened to say something like "Spartacus couldn't defeat Rome but a guy in a Piper Cub could exterminate a whole civilization of Red Romans", then I might have asked the same question as you in an attempt to extract clarity from at least one of his mindless meanderings.

Quick, switch to rain tires. Don't compromise safety with snow tires.

Do rain tires have a special rubber compound? I'm pretty sure they only differ in regards to tread pattern.

Nice try though.

Thread pattern is very important. Rain tires offer better traction and breaking in current conditions. Can't believe some would settle for inappropriate tires today. With this attitude there will be a carnage on the roads.

I switched over to these this morning. 320 Threads per Inch. Better safe than sorry.

today was fun in the snow. getting out of my subdivision felt like a rally

Akshooly, thats not good.
well when you wake up to the sound of spinning tires... and see a CAA truck being pulled out of its spot by ANOTHER CAA truck, you know something is wrong with
a) the former truck
b) your street

I'd like to see one of the naysayers step up to the plate and duplicate this with their no-season tires.

^ When? Toronto never looked like that.

Also those tires were studded. I will race summer tires with studs VS winter tires on ICE any day.

I'd like to see anyone try that with regular winter tires. Studs aren't legal in Southern Ontario.
