I have never heard of anyone getting double. Maybe slightly over market but the first offer is normally the best and it goes down quickly if the developer is unhappy with you. Normally, the advantage is a transaction free from conditions as the developer doesn't care what condition your house is in. Thinking you can holdout and generate a lottery win normally ends up with you on an orphaned piece of land surrounded by new development worth less than the initial offer and not easy to sell.
That's what is happening in villages' like streetsville, the older small houses on big property is being bought for more than market value, then the new owner rips the house down and builds a much larger home.

the houses most of them was owned by canada brick workers and avro aero workers when they was built. Funny fact is the houses that are setting on basements was owned by upper management

What about the toll you have pay at the border getting back into your own country. It was 5 buck for cars and 10 bucks for towing a trailer, if I remember correctly. Another cash grab!

Sorry, I had meant for transit related buybacks. For example, there's one being held up east end of the downtown core.

Anyone know what happened to the hwy 7 construction between Kitchener and Guelph? Province spent millions building new infrastructure in Kitchener, and now it looks like the entire project is dead.

That's a different situation. Still theoretically get close to fair market value however, it's not their money so you have a better chance of a win. Also the route is pre-determined and rarely has an alternate, leaving you there is not an option. With values skyrocketing, the longer you drag it out the higher fair market value is.

I don't understand why they don't just add an extra lane to the relatively short piece of existing Highway 7 that is two-lane. No new farmland paved over, no new properties to buy up. It's been an issue for decades, as far back as I can remember when I lived in the area. The four-lane bits have been extended in from both ends so that the remaining two-lane piece is only maybe 7 or 8 km now. They've already started by default, just finish the darn thing!

I'm curious what happened at the end of the 427...they finished it...it was fully functional for years...and a few months ago I drove by and it was literally all ripped up again and traffic had to get off at Hwy 7 again.

Highway #7 is not a controlled access highway, it is bi-directional, has no median, littered with intersections and private driveways. Make it wider and you will make it absolutely deadly.

It is already wider for most of its length. Why would the last small segment be vastly different?

Was speaking of the highway 7 in general, she's a long ***** and already deadly.

I mentioned hwy 7 between Guelph and Kitchener specifically because the province had done all the studies necessary to go forward with the project. All the planning was done.$$$$$$$$.
The major intersection with hwy 85 was totally rebuilt for the new hwy North of the existing route. Farmlands had already been purchased and reshaping had begun. And then Ford won and cancelled the entire project.$$$$$$$$. liberal style!
It has nothing to do with hwy7 anywhere else.
But! In the news, the project is getting the green light again.$764m to continue. And if you believe that number, well......

For a long time, it ended in the midst of an industrial area at Zenway Drive just north of 7. It has now been closed north of 7 and that part of it is getting reconfigured as part of extending the 427 north to (for now) Major Mackenzie. That's also the vicinity of the proposed junction with 413.

Thanks @Brian P seemed ridiculous to rip apart the whole thing shortly after completed. Never knew the 427 was being planned to Major Mackenzie

So, Hwy 6N, without the turning lane.

Do y'all know what the difference is between a 400 series highway and a regular highway,
400 series highways are controlled access highways.
Regular highway anything qualifies as an off topic here.
