MotoGP 2012

if jorge was able to be competitive on the under-powered yammy(in comparison to the repsol honda) something he complained to yamaha all season as long as they got that umphh to poosh out of the corners onto the straights I see some SERIOUS battle between Stoner and Lorenzo!! which sounds awesome

So just like F1, MotoGP is 90% about the machine? That sux.

Think rossi proved he had the skill on his first race with Yamaha. But there's no way around the fact your need a good machine if you want good results.

you still have to get a good start, you still have to manage tires, you still have to post consistent laps at ridiculous speeds and you still have to finish the race

I would say it is mostly to do with the rider and his capability of doing all those things above

Every time i see a F1 car driving through Monaco, all I can say is holy ****

If he doesn't do anything really good with Ducati this year, his reasonable options will be very limited.

When he broke his leg, viewership was down 50% for the races he wasn't in. Wonder what the bottom line effect of that was. Can Dorna afford to let Rossi retire with no new "likeable" Alien?

True for most riders. Unfortunately, Rossi's one of them. He seems to need a particular machine to fit his riding style.

Stoner, on the other hand, rode around the issues of the 800cc Desmo: win-it-or-bin-it. Part of the reason why Ducati never took his complaints about front-end feel seriously. That red machine was always moving underneath him like a motocross bike. The guy's an animal.

He was also in another league compared to his Honda team mates last year so yeah, he seems to be exceptional in a few ways.

Don't forget, Rossi took a dog Yamaha in 04 and won the championship. No other Yamaha was close. It was always Rossi and a swarm of Hondas that season, and for a few others after that.

Now, as for why Rossi cannot find speed on the Ducati, than when he could on the Yamaha, I don't have an answer.

Stoner is definitely fast. I'm pegging him to win the championship again, but he's as exciting as watching paint dry.

If pedrosa stayes unbroken this year which seems to be rare thing in the past 4 years it might be pretty exciting!! Lorenzo seems to have gotten pretty close to stoners pace with that last weekend of testing. But I wouldn't be surprised to see him run away with it again

U guys serious???!!! Stoner racing his bike sideways at phillip island is pretty crazy. I can watch that again and again and again!! :)

Its more of his style. Most guys do wheelies when they pass the finish line...Its all entertaining but not much of a race...(now im really wondering if he does that sliding in traffic too..)
What RC8BOY and me (LC8BOY) talking about is traffic, passing etc...

lol my post got owned lol, how about whats the deal with stoner being able to point and shoot his honda right through corners and whats with lorenzo seeming to take a more of a wider/oval line? is that just a riding style thing, it works for him but wouldnt he be quicker taking a tigher line ?

The wider line should allow for higher corner speed. The point and shoot technique is an American/Australian style. In the end, it seems to balance out but the point and shoot seems to cook the tires quicker.
