Thought his throttle was messed up after the crash?

Now you're putting words in my mouth. I meant to say he or his machine wasn't 100% so why risk further injury or a crash to not finish on a podium anyways. DNS is different because he has a chance to reach the podium and make the sponsors happy.

It was, it was stiff and wouldn't auto return. The EuroSport feed had a good shot of them trying to fix the throttle when he pulled in.

The throttle wouldn't spring back? I've seen people in club racing pick up and race without a foot peg.

BUT I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say if it wouldn't pass tech/safety, he shouldn't ride it.

However, his attitude right from when he crashed was that he gave up. Without even inspecting or riding the bike, he already gave up. That was clear.
 
250hp with a sticky throttle is a bit different, he did seem like he gave up though.
