More car tire(on a mc) fun

For your info, here is the Darkside forum that I frequent. http://mcdarksiders.forumotion.com
Darksiders run high performance tires,(not snow tires,I dont know where that myth came from) I run a General Altimax HP. at 32 PSI for a 900 lbs bike.
There are a few other tires that are popular with bikers..not every tire is good for a bike. You will see them on the forum.

Thanks for the info Mac. A saw a few darkside people were running Michelin Alpin PA3 ZP - 195/55-16 @ 28 to 32 psi and said it was the best CT they ever ran on the MC so figured the snow tire possibly offered a softer compound, softer sidewalls, etc. Good to know that you can have good results with high performance tires, many more sizes available in those :D

I'd love to see a MotoGP race on some car tires with the Benny Hill theme playing.

Car Tire on the R1... Do it!! :D

You're arguing technicalities of grip with a bunch of "riders" who think upside down pudding bowls, T shirts and shorts are adequate safety gear for motorcycle riding. There's a brick wall over there. Go bang your head against it.

Fiery, You are quite the expert and seem to know "who" and "what" Darksiders look like.
You must have a lot of experience running Darkside tires to be able to make knowlegable comments.
What you just described are mostly Harley bikers and squids that ride sportsbikes.and neither of those ride many Darkside tires.
Yes its a public forum and all are entitled to their input.

Just because you "run" certain types of tires doesn't mean you're an expert on the topic.

This thread reminds me of a group of "experts" in the trucking industry who suggest that running trailer tires on drive axles is a good idea. Plenty of people will swear by it and tell you its a good idea cause they have done it and didn't have problems, however anyone with an iq over room temperature would quickly realize that the tires area world apart, both designed for a completely different purpose.

Anyways, if you don't see how a square tire is a bad idea for a motorcycle i don't know what to tell you lol

These days you can get a aggressive sport touring tires that last 15 000KM. Touring tires out there can last double that. Why would anyone want to run a car tire beats me... Price? Get Kendas. Seems to be one of those image things, where everyone knows it's a bad idea but you think it's cool to troll around calling yourselves "Darksiders". Kinda like huge wings on civics.

They're outlaws man!!!! :lmao:

Bull, show me a touring tire that will give me 30,000 Km,s.
The last set of "Touring" tires that I had on my bike lasted 8000 Kms.
It was a POS Metzler. From new to cords showing, only 8000 Km's.
Thats once or twice a year for me to change a tire.
They might be ok on a lightweight sportsbike, but not on a heavy muscle cruiser.
Anyways thats not the only reason I ride a car tire.
It's not an image thing, there are a # of reasons why a lot of big bikes are switching over to CT's.
Never mind, it's not worth talking about it here on this GTAM sportsbike forum.
