Mapping/power commanders

This is the one:

yeah if its from their power parts catalog then i wouldn't worry.

ask the dealer about how to go about ordering it, then inquire about the impact on your warranty and what tuning (if any) they can offer.

This is the one:

Hmm. Not clear.

"It is technical wise not possible to use this specific engine mapping respectively the Akrapovic „Evolution Line" exhaust system on the public road." "Closed course competition use only"

What does your documentation say about the effects of competition on your warranty?

EDIT:
That one looks really short. You may get in trouble with J2825 (which is roughly equivalent to noise by-laws in Caledon and many other greater GTA municipalities)

However, if you get pulled over by the cops and fail a sound check, you can't blame the manufacturer or the dealership.

They're gonna say, "It didn't come like that from the factory. And we told the customer the full system was for track use only".

As per this disclaimer right on the web page:

thats why you keep the stock pipes

Looks to me like the main muffler is in the square box underneath the bike, with the shorty round piece on the end likely to be only decorative.

I betcha it is a wee bit expensive ...

Depends whether they write you the HTA version of the noise ticket, or the city-bylaw version. Usually it's the city-bylaw version, because the applicable section of the HTA is too vague to be easily enforceable. The city-bylaw version is just a fine. (edit: it's quite possible that even the HTA version doesn't really do much to you.)

I don't think it's a "fix it" ticket. Just a $110 fine, like a "no front plate" fine. Doesn't affect insurance either.

I wouldn't switch back to the stock exhaust just because of one ticket. Just pay the fine and go WOT somewhere else!
yes, its not a moving violation ticket.

i've never even heard of police enforcing an HTA noise violation at the road side.

akrapovic?
more like

yes i was planning to get akro headers this season, since the RR ones are a direct fit to the XR stock can. But i think this stage 1 tune will do everything im looking for and i'll save the money on top.

What’s Being Restricted?

  • Throttle Restriction – Throttle is restricted and has a lazy feel on tip-in riding along with loss of power in certain gears / RPM’s
  • Exhaust Valve – Restricted for noise and makes a loss in power
  • RPM Limiter – The stock RPM limiter is set to 12,000 RPM and cuts the powerband off too soon
  • Fueling – The 2020 BMW S1000XR fueling is set rich from the factory and needs adjustment
  • Heat Management – The S1000XR feels hot and runs hot

What Do We Do To Fix These Issues?

  • Throttle Restriction – We remove the throttle restrictions across the board to give you the riding experience and power you wanted from the factory
  • Exhaust Valve – We still utilize the stock exhaust valve to give you maximum power but also open it up when you need to make peak power gains and the sound you want
  • RPM Limiter – We moved the limiter from the stock 12,000RPM to 12,500RPM to maximize your powerband
  • Fueling – We program the S1000XR to target a better AFR (Air/Fuel Ratio) to make a little more power along with fixing drivability and idle issues

Benefits

  • 8% horsepower gain across the RPM range (see graph below)Horsepower gained from exhaust valve management
  • Cooler riding temps
  • Potential cold start, hot start issues solved. Idle is smooth and consistent
  • Improved throttle response in all gears
  • Longer powerband from increased RPM limiter
  • Better exhaust note (as bike is silent stock due to exhaust valve)
