Like watches? post a pic of your watch, and a pic of your favourite watch

Is that a knock off?

No offense as it could very well be the camera but there are a few things that make me wonder.

I was thinking the same thing. If it is genuine however, congrats, the Breitling Bentleys are gorgeous

Movodo make really nice minimalist designs. I got the GF one a few years back and she still loves it.

Over the top would have to go to the Breitling Emergency.

If you activate it the coast guard (or similar SAR agency) comes and rescues you.

If you set it off by accident you are on the hook for whatever it cost to put the Helo in the air etc.

I read about this watch. It's like $15-20k or something everytime they have to send a rescue party after you LOL. That's awesome.

NO, this would be over the top:

Urwerk make pretty much the COOLEST watches I've EVER seen but the $100K+ prices are a bit steep LOL

They have options that are less over the top. I like all the glowy stuff and different colours, lol.

I hope those radioactive stuff don't affect u in the long run

Tritium is harmless encased in a watch, probably not a good idea to eat it though. Back in the WW2 days, they used Radium for lume, now that was dangerous

Agree. Very nice, and very expensive. The 103 tarantula is pretty cool and a steal at only $65 000 LOL

I like the exposed mechanical styles that look a bit more classic though.

That one caught my eye too. Definitely nice! I was posting on another forum a few months back and someone made a LONG post about a bunch of boutique watch makers, looked many of them up and some of the designs blew my mind. The Urwerk was the one that stood out the most. Definitely a fan of the watches that don't follow the standard watch conventions and do something unique. If I had 20 grand to blow on a watch I'd definitely try to get something a little more unconventional with a more innovative design rather than a blinged out Rolex or even Breitling. But than I DON'T have 20K to blow on a watch, let alone 100K, so I guess I don't have that problem. lol

Maybe some of the tech will trickle down to some of the more mainstream brands eventually though........probably not but maybe

In a totally different direction and price range the Nooka ZAZ is a modern tech watch (admittedly not for everyone's taste) that i wouldn't mind picking up...

Would have to see/try it before I was sure though.

I guess my watches are cheap and tame by comparison to the above...The Seiko Honda F1 Sportura I had for years, worked well, my teenage daughter decided that I needed a new look and gave me a Hugo Boss Black as last years Xmas present, not as many buttons and minimalist front end but large and thick overall, still getting used to the bulk...

Forgive my ignorance, but why should I pay $60k for a watch? I hope it could teleport me into the future

Sorry, I would not wear any watch that is designed by clothes manufacturers

Some people like the mechanical craftsmanship that goes into a piece like that. Others like the exclusivity.

Me..I just like the look...so I buy good fakes :)

If you don't know, you don't know, you know?

LOL I wouldn't (couldn't) pay that much for one either. But to some people, it's chump change.

Same reason a Veyron costs over a million. The engineering involved in building these complicated almost one-off movements is insane, same with the attention to detail.

For my imaginary bag of money though, I'd skip the extravagant boutique manufacturers and go for a Patek, there is something incredibly elegant and timeless about their watches.

And yes, clothing companies for the most part don't make watches (I can't think of one that does off hand at least), they're all made in China (even if it says Swiss Made, the rules are loose) by some mass manufacturer and have their name placed on it. At the end of the day though, barely anyone will notice who actually makes your watch, or how expensive it is, or even that you're wearing a watch to begin with.

Whole new meaning to a hair past a freckle.

Thanks for the feedback, but I think these days its very difficult to know who makes what. Having lived in Germany for some time I have gotten to know Hugo Boss as a pretty smart and successful company. Just fyi their watches are designed and made by Movado. In any case I wear it because my daughter gave it to me, probably would not have been my first choice either.

Hugo Boss does have some very nice high end products, they also make some cheap low end stuff (or rather, they contract out another company to put their name on it). Most big clothing companies are like that, just look at Armani Exchange. That said, watches fall into the bottom drawer of Boss' product line.

Movado as a corporation is a large company that owns a number of brands; Ebel, Concord, ESQ by Movado, Coach, Hugo Boss, Lacoste, Juicy Couture and Tommy Hilfiger (from wikipedia) Out of those, Ebel and Concord are the only truly respected horology brands. I'd put Movado watches as a so so. They do have a fair bit of history, but for the most part none of their watches are particularly special and most use cheap quartz movements ($1000 plus for a basic quartz is a joke), though some use proper ETA automatic movements. Even their iconic museum watch which I really do like, was designed by someone else, and the design patent purchased by Movado for next to nothing.

On the flip side, there's no such thing as a bad watch. They all tell the time, and they're all reasonably reliable. The Hugo Boss you have visually looks nice, wear it with pride
