Solving the protest problem. NA soon to adopt this brilliant scheme.

"The Saudi authorities have drafted new anti-terrorism legislation that makes political dissent a criminal offence and would enable the government to jail anyone who questioned the integrity of the King or Crown Prince for a minimum of 10 years.A draft copy smuggled from the kingdom and obtained by Amnesty International shows that the definition of "terrorist crimes" under the proposed new law is so broad as to enable the authorities to detain anybody for as long as they want on such wide-ranging charges as "endangering... national unity" or "harming the reputation of the state or its position".
The Draconian draft legislation is a sign of the deep sense of threat felt by King Abdullah and the Saudi royal family because of the Arab Spring pro-democracy movement, the emergence of a Shia Iraq in the aftermath of the US invasion, and the collapse of the status quo across the Arab world."

Re: Durham cop charged, world turns upside down.

But we all know the result of any charges for cops, it will be either tossed out due to lack of evidance, or some other lame reason.

I'm betting on the usual corrupt cop defense in our court system - the Crown twiddles the proverbial thumbs while the corrupt cop gets of on 11b

This is a moronic and misleading comment. Few cops get off on 11b, and even those that do often still have to face either internal disciplinary proceedings or charges under the Police Services Act. You just never hear about them because they are the norm, and it's the exceptions to the norm that tend to make the news.

As for this cop, if his driving is found at trial to be dangerous and without justification, then by all means he should wear the repercussions, same as anyone else.

Let's say it is tossed due to lack of convincing evidence. Are you suggesting that the cop (or anyone else) should be convicted even without convincing evidence?

And how many here, factually guilty of their traffic offences, rely on the same sort of breaks on a habitual basis?

That being said, there are many incidences, some very recently (G20 anyone?) that call into question the fairness of the system as it relates to peace officers. But as usual, I expect certain forum members to come down on the side of the supposed good, law abiding protectors of society. And I expect no less of these people. While many in the public may make use of the albeit flawed court system to evade traffic offenses, the kind of pressure that can be brought to bear on the courts by the Police Services Boards is not usually available to regular folks. Certainly not without great cost both in time and financially.

The system is flawed yes. It is the only system we currently have but it is also heavily biased. One only has to open a newspaper these days for confirmation of this fact. And what kind of comfort does it bring to the victim when said cop evades a criminal charge on the promise that the matter may be handled internally? Cops +1 regular every day Joe 0.

Your argument is moronic and flawed. Proof is simply current events. Perhaps for once standing on the other side of this kind of issue would do you some good.

Biker forum. Biker down. Cop to blame. Seems simple enough. I still don't believe you ride BTW.
