'Had an unfortunate medical incident recently where a person died...
911 called, Ambulance, Fire, dispatched. Police also dispatched because its was a VSA call (Vital signs absent).
Fire arrived first followed by EMS and FOUR police officers...
They must not be too busy fightin' crime to be able to pull four officers off the road to stand around doing nothing for a couple of hours
In my area the police are asking for millions in budget increases which will of course be granted and just added to my property tax bill.

'Just hope there wasn't some citizen in need of critical assistance and had to wait because the all four cars in their area where "busy" standing around with their thumbs up their *****.
No different than when two pigs wern't enough to properly beat up a homeless guys and 7 more come a running.
"not enough cops on the beat we need more cash" whatever.

As the months have passed since my wife's recent death, it annoys me more and more at the police presence in my home for hours and hours. I know it's procedure, but it was excessive.

Understanding is a two way street. It's understandable that they have a job to do. However they have to understand that the outcome of their job won't affect the final outcome and bit of compassion would be nice.

Reading between the lines, this sucks. Condolences to their family.

Funny story but one of the popular moves the larger police services do is to assign problem members that they want to shelf or keep out of the way to their marine unit.
Not a big surprise to see our boy assigned to the boat in the first media clip.
You can bet that he had a history of questionable behavior well before the current allegations.

That's why I posted sunshine list. Two years had substantial reductions in pay. I don't know why but that seems suspicious.

Edit:
Tribunal was scheduled Thursday. He died Wednesday.

Another cop that can't deal with the consequences of their actions. One of the two charged committed suicide.

More embarrassment from the courts. If you are pleading guilty to violating release orders, any non-custodial option should be off the table. Deport him already, he's a pos and we don't want him here. How many people need to die before the rights of citizens outweigh the rights of thieving addicts we allowed in?

Passenger in deadly Highway 401 wrong-way crash pleads guilty, released on probation

Gill also pleaded guilty to breaching probation and a release order. Court heard it was the second time in the past two years that he was found to be breaching his bail conditions, as Gill struggled with opioid addiction.

Ontario Court Justice Russell Wood agreed with a joint sentencing submission from the Crown and defence, handing Gill a 5.5-month jail term – amounting to more than time served – and two years' probation.

I agree with condolences to the family. Assuming self harm, this one sadly probably had enough conscience to not re-offend but wanted to spare himself, his family and the victim the ugly truths of trial and punishment. However there are better ways of handing things.

The ones that fight well documented charges are the ones that worry me.

When you do something stupid you have to realize that your family and friends get hit with the crap as well. In that light I feel sorry for Justin's kids. Kids want to hear good things about their parents and there can be stigma when the opposite happens.

The incidence of suicide in police is many times the national level... not as high as DOD, but high.
The incidence of alcoholism is way over national levels as is domestic abuse, and divorce rates.

... it seems like the police profession attracts failures in life.
... and i'm willing to bet dollars to donuts that the incidence of crime is higher in the police force than the general population. A lot goes on that we don't hear about

Thing is... they don't say how he breached his bail conditions.
There are breaths and then there are breaches.
The breach would be picking up new charges like flight from police, theft, dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death...

People who commit suicide typically aren't thinking about how it will have an effect on anyone else. One of my uncles was a chief of police, back east. His wife was going through chemo. He was fighting lawsuits that were filed by a woman who was claiming discrimination because the department wouldn't hire her, when she was completely unqualified. One day he went out to the HQ parking lot and ate his gun.

I don't care how you breached. Once your word means nothing, it means nothing and in no circumstances should we believe you. You have proven unable to follow rules so we'll help you. Ideally, the first time he got convicted we'd put him on a plane. He is not a productive member of society. See ya.

Danny Diggins - moto cop w. Niagara Regional Police. Did the same thing. Was one of the nicest guys on the force, which was likely part of the problem. Heard he was always having issues with his superiors for being too chill.

'Be great if that was how "the system" looked at things...

Unfortunately "the system" has evolved to a point where offenders are looked at as victims too, who deserve every possible break.

Another jewellery store smash and grab.. We've seen numerous incidents of young folks involved in crimes.. I suspect they're often coerced by older people.. I think that the government should look at creating new laws to use against adults using or coercing kids to commit crimes.
