Seen today on my way to work, an undercover mini van, only way i would have known is they had a car pulled over with a marked car also stopped. and the tail lights flashing blue and red

Reminds me of the days when OPP would set up as a fake road crew, with a white van, to catch speeders at Forks of the Credit.

21% pay raise by Peel Region LOL. They don't do poo now half the time and want more money.

They have us by the collective balls. Give in, and they get a runaway budget with no change except more cops.

Don't give in, they do even LESS than what they do.

There needs to be a middle ground. But 21% ain't it.

Yeah, but don't you know the streets will run with blood if the police don't get their raises?

They have a good scam going... 'Just like the fire dept.

At least the fire dept. uses positive public relations and really... when required, they do provide a needed service.

'Seems the police still think they're the only ones who can prevent crime when really... they can't and don't.
At best, they swoop in AFTER the crime happens and maybe find out who done it, but that's about it.

Agree. Yet another government organization that needs a grenade. The compensation has detached from the education and work required. Kenya has some cops but not many and they mainly deal with HTA type stuff. People that want protection hire security companies that will respond quickly in large numbers. My property tax going to police is well over $500/yr and climbing fast. Given that I need police every few decades, I'd be better served sending my $500/yr to a private company with a guaranteed service time. Better service for me and a profitable business for them.

"Officer’s inaccurate testimony ‘will undoubtedly tarnish the image of the Toronto Police Service:’ police tribunal"

No... you keeping cops like this guy employed is what tarnishes the TPS image.

"We gave him the harshest penalty possible short of termination". He lied under oath, torpedoed a case and is an untrustworthy pos. Termination should have been the default and going after him for waste of public resources should have been the question mark.

What happens the next time he arrests someone and has to go to court?
This is one of the reason suspects keep walking on serious charges.

He “appears to recognize the seriousness of the misconduct”..........at least while testifying under oath to the Police Tribunal.

"White and another officer were criminally charged in 2019 with theft and perjury in connection with the same investigation after they were accused of failing to “account for a portion” of money that was seized during a search."

The Gang and Drug Task Force must have had something to say to him about cutting their grass.

They were also accused of providing false or misleading testimony during the preliminary inquiry. Those charges were later withdrawn by the Crown in 2023, according to multiple media reports."

So he committed perjury and, it sounds like from this notation, stole money that should have been in evidence. So HOW does this officer still have a job?

If they fired the thieves that committed perjury they may not have many left. You can't be setting that precedent.

With how hard it seems to be to get hired by TPS, you would think that the standard for officers maintaining their employment would be a bit higher.

Holy crap. I hadn't read much past the headlines. This is his second conviction. Complete no brainer for termination with cause. Maybe the SIU and triubunal should be made up exclusively of people that have no connection to police. It seems to be almost impossible to have consequences for your actions beyond multi-year paid vacations.

By their definition.. I guess the guys that got away with the load of gold from Pearson.. didn't steal it.. They just "failed to account" for the shipment.

The sentence is already light IMO.. but they're taking time off for the conditions in jails.
Poor him. His time in jail is "horrific". I'm sure the multiple people he was robbing while armed with a gun were having the time of their lives.

To be fair, TFD and EMS do one helluva job and not just in their primary functions. First on any scene is usually TFD, and would YOU honestly want to be an EMS ? Incredibly high rate of suicide from being on the job - scraping people up off the pavement or out of burnt down houses will do that to ya. I have no beef with any of them.
