I thought the police could seize to prevent destruction but not view without a warrant. We get so much cross border law quotes that may not be correct.

Can an officer view and act on issues not related to the original violation?

How would that differ from a firearm report and while searching for the gun cocaine is found.

I don't know what the law is or states, but the cops came to the residence I shared with some friends looking for a person we knew who was known to frequent our place. They came in to look for him, noticed some plants germinating on the window sill of one bedroom (it was the 70s) and said you might want to get rid of those.

Likely 'plain sight' doctrine, scope of the warrant usually applies to the entire house for a search i would gander.

Video evidence warrant scope is likely for that 'event' only?

I would agree. If police can enter a home in which they can see a crime being committed through a window, without warrant, then legitimately having a warrant for search is unlikely to limit what they can charge to just the reason for that warrant.

Not exactly law enforcement. Commander of 8 wing trenton was attempting to shoot protected species from a boat in a canal on the weekend. He then threw the gun in the water and took off when police were called. He got caught. Brilliant.

They've had worse base commanders

Right up there with when Navy divers used their government issued equipment to poach lobsters, in Nova Scotia.

Sting to catch entitle ahole drivers near montreal. It worked well. Safe and effective. Maybe OPP should take some notes.

Unfortunately, lines are not a regulatory device in Ontario, unless accompanied by a sign, so this specific tactic wouldn't work. Also, I find that targeted sweeps are pretty much useless. They don't actually curb behaviour in the way that being constantly fearful of being caught would. Then again I'm a bit salty about such things as I was once caught up in a targeted sweep and charged with something that I didn't do because police thought that I had to make an illegal turn to get where I was. They were almost right. Their failure to charge people who were "blocking the box" almost resulted in me being unable to make a legal turn, (Bremner west, to Spadina south, to The Gardiner. Traffic was blocking the entire intersection at Bremner and Spadina, through the red.)

Had that happen downtown once. They wouldn't direct traffic but were happy to hand out tickets to people forced to plug the intersection.

Well this was not well thought out.

OPP officer in Kenora sees an injured deer in town. Hits it in the head with an axe while his partner watches and then leaves. Deer apparently lived for quite a while after (or at least that's how the story goes to gain traction). OPP is investigating.

Video in link is slightly disturbing. Mostly because of the piss poor axe handling skills. This guy is obviously not born and raised in the north. Axe flew out of his hands after the glancing blow.

Of all the options that were available to this officer, he came up with hitting it with an axe? That show a severe lack of judgement.
This man should not be an officer.

More extremely careless police gunfire. Most of these videos they can't connect with a running target 15 feet in front of them, but lets fire our guns across the highway and hope for the best (It worked, but could have easily hit a passing car) Scary.

Those videos distort distances but going by lane markings the vehicles were too close for comfort. I don't know enough about the ricochet factor to comment on that risk.

However the guy was trying to stop cars on the highway to hijack them. Welcome to the USA.

They blurred it out so they must have hit him. Did he die from his wounds? Need to know whether I should shed a tear or not.

Greased.

"The suspect fired multiple rounds at the officers, striking one officer on his arm. Two officers shot multiple rounds at the suspect who continued to run down a grassy embankment onto the main lanes of IH 10 E. While on the highway, the suspect began pointing his gun and shooting at passing motorists in an attempt to gain access to a vehicle. Two officers exchanged gunfire with the suspect, striking him. The suspect, 40-year-old Michael Kirkland, was pronounced dead at the scene. The injured officer was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. "

If a normal citizen left their loaded handgun in their car, they would be charged so fast they wouldn't know what happened. When a cop does it, they don't need to worry about that. Frig me. And we pay well over 100k a year for this moron.
