Six month demotion for cheating on the sergeants exam. His lawyer tried to argue that how was a cop supposed to turn in a superior that was cheating. Culture did not allow that. Well, there's your problem. Anyone that thinks that culture is more important than ethics or law needs to be permanently purged.

Well this is odd. I was under the impression that resisting arrest will stick even if it turns out to be unlawful.

Didn’t read the article yet tho.

It can depend upon whether the officer has a good faith belief that their actions are lawful. "Contempt of cop" is not a valid charge.

*EDIT* - If the business had told the cop that they wanted the screaming customer trespassed from the property, none of this would have been an issue. At that point he would have been illegally on the property and could be removed/arrested.

Rule #1 of any government position is allegiance to ones superior. Heil!!!

You haven't met anyone at CP have you? :ROFLMAO:
I knew someone years ago in Calgary and votes were usually at the hall between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM.

If the vote was going to be contentious the pro leadership members were quietly told be be there at 6:00 PM sharp and to vote when they arrived. The rank and file trickled in later to find that voting closed at 6:30. Motion carried.

Durham dui cop gets demoted for 9 months for bringing disrepute to the service. Meanwhile, he has no license for 12 months. Paying someone 100k that can't do the job brings a lot of disrepute to the service. At a minimum, this should have been suspended without pay until he has a license.

I'm not tormented about this one. The guy made a mistake, kept working, and took ownership for his bad deed. No dragging things out for paid leave.

If you were a salesman and worked for me, the same thing would happen if you disclosed a DUI. Demotion to inside sales for a year.

It's the repeat offenders that bother me. I understand that addictions are medical conditions but why is my life just collateral damage to the latest social experiment?

The poster boy for dirtbag cops just got another 9 assault convictions. His psa hearing was delayed until October so he is still at full pay until at least then even with criminal convictions for drugs, rape and assault. Most of a decade suspended with pay. What does it take for a government to change psa?

He gets sentenced for the rape on June 16th.. He is expected to be sentenced to jail time.. when he is.. I believe they can immediately suspend him without pay.

Sort of but no. There is no way in hell sitting government would let a minister step down. They are pretending this isn't another screwup amd therefore there is no reason to resign. Probably reassigned in next shuffle (completely unrelated to the at least three times he has caused a huge mess of course).

The government has little say in what happens to inmates inside the prison system. They were notified of the transfer.. not involved in it happening.
They can go on about creating new laws and such to keep him in max security.. but I think the charter and courts will put a damper on whatever they try to do.

They're getting cocky after the "win" of making David Johnston resign. (He shouldn't have.) Mendicino isn't great, but this was a failure of the bureaucracy, which outlives any single elected government.
