Five bullets of 8 fired. No argument that it's plain and simple murder.

Not so simple. He tried to cover it up.

Wouldn't you say that most murderers make some effort at not being caught?

What I find the most disturbing about this incident, is the nonchalant and practised way that he performed the cover up. It immediately had me wondering how many times you have to do something like that, for it to become that automatic an action?

Did cover it up. It wasn't until the video came out that there were questions.

EXACTLY. Not only for this one policeman, but there is a culture of acceptance of this behavior and if it wasn't for the proliferation of personal recording devices this would just be another. "Black man killed resisting arrest and assaulting a peace officer". Case closed.. sprinkle some crack on him Johnson..

Re: Here we go again.. video shows cop shooting guy in the back..

Even though Mark Geragos is a CNN hack, he's still a decent defence lawyer who defended high profiled people including Michael Jackson.

He went onto say that there's a pattern and a script that every single law enforcement officer says after they use deadly force. Word for word, they all read the exact same script across the country.

Even a jury if they provided all the evidence they had in the video, but didn't have the video... they'd still get a hung jury or not-guilty. The general public can not wrap their heads around a police officer executing someone. In their minds, it's just not possible.

Re: Here we go again.. video shows cop shooting guy in the back..

What about the second cop? It looks to me he is there when the first one drops the tazer beside the body. Shouldn't he be charged with being an accessory after the fact if he did not report the coverup?

The second cop is black and shows up less than a minute after the shooting so it would be interesting to hear his take.

The only time anyone hustles to do anything is in the placing of the tazer. The whole video seems odd as if it was re-enactment or hoax. No one gets excited. Shoot, set the stage, muddle about. No emotion.

Again, reminds me of the Sammy Yatim shooting with the casual Tazering of the body, and the kicking around of spent cartridges.

Re: Here we go again.. video shows cop shooting guy in the back..

The deceased has four children and an arrest warrant for being behind on child support payments.

Rather then get arrested and go to jail, he decided to run.

The problem today is that if you don't comply with the police, you're increasing the probability of leaving in a body-bag. You're making their work even more difficult. Even if they're putting a ******** charge, get a lawyer... fight it, and sue them later.

The problem is the police training, they gave the 12-yr old Tamir Rice with a toy gun all of two seconds before they executing him. A few years ago, he might have gotten "freeze, drop the gun". Now it's shoot first, because cops' lives are the most important.

On the same vein, if it was a white rich dude with a gun... they would de-escalate the situation and talk him down.

If you look at use of force training, admittedly in rare cases it's life or death.

That video and the scenarios are fixed. They leave the participant no choice but to shot. No tazer, no batons, nothing but a gun. The participant has no training.

A Peel Regional Police officer was stabbed during a call about a disturbance in Mississauga on Thursday morning. (Michael Charles Cole/CBC)

Const. Thomas Ruttan told reporters the call was from an address on Orleans Road and involved a male with reported mental-health issues.
"Officers arrived and there was an interaction between the officer and this male," Ruttan told reporters on Thursday afternoon. "The officer was stabbed and has been taken to hospital where he remains in stable condition, [with] non-life threatening injuries."
Police believe the male fled the scene in a police cruiser, which was located a short distance away.
Two schools were put into lockdown as police searched for a suspect.
Police say that a 47-year-old man was taken into custody shortly after noon.
Investigators want to speak to witnesses who have information about the interaction involving the officer, as well as what happened before police arrived at the scene.

What would have been nuts would be the automatic calls of condemnation had the cop shot the "poor disturbed man".

People like the poor disturbed man are why cops have it rough sometimes. I mean I know if one cop is bad they automatically all are  but I can't imagine some of the fine upstanding ******** they must deal with on a daily basis.

Good on them. You don't mess around at the airport.

Tase, restrain, handcuff.....no unnecessary punching or kicking or kneeling on the guys head.
Even the officers running through the crowd were polite. lol

Good work. Kudos to the AD Division.

Maybe mental health. Maybe something else. Every time he moves, you hear a beep. That beep is the metal detector. It might just have been reacting to the briefcase, or it might have been something in the briefcase. He was obviously moving in that manner because it set the metal detector off, so what was his message?

I wouldn't take a chance either.

Exactly. Professionalism is a great thing and should be the standard not the exception. Bravo.

It generally is the standard around here but you just rarely ever hear about it.

News media generally tends to focus on what sells and what grabs the customers' attention, and that is the out of ordinary events. Then some knob here will hold it up and try to use it as a proof-positive example of all there is, whether it be cops or politicians or Muslim terrorists.
