Kitchener/Waterloo area, c u next trackday riders thread!

Definitely HAVEN'T forgotten...
New bike (I wasn't feeling too creative for a name, and my Dad used to always use this name in his little stories, so I've coined the SV1000 "Suzi") has the bodywork all painted up, put on adjustable shorty levers a couple nights ago... numbers have been ordered and should have shown up earlier this week (hopefully soon) and sliders are on order too.
Looking at some Black Friday sales now on my morning break - hopefully I'll find one with tires on at a deeper discount than normal!

Are you going for "hypersport" street tires for now? Like Corsa III's or Q2's (notice how I didn't mention Michelin? ;) )

I'll be thinking about booking a Mosport day as soon as they open online registration as Mosport sells out pretty quickly. We should discuss what days are best for everyone (within the limited choices).

I was talking with Sandy about those tires and he was pretty excited about them.

Corsa III's haven't been in production for a while now. They've been replaced with the supposedly vastly superior Diablo Rosso II and Diablo Rosso Corsa.
We'll have to see how I like the Metzler's that are on Suzi now - they've got lots of meat on them right now (should be enough for 3-4 track days for sure). If I like 'em, I may stick with them, otherwise, probably switch back to Pirelli.

Oh yeah, Rosso, well you got my point. haha

Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa scrubs will be the easiest tires to find, and cheap. I just got three 6-lap fronts for $125. Dunlop scrubs are pretty easy to find too.

Hells yeah. I just created a Pro6 user account... what dates work for you guys? Let's get organized and book the dates. I'm pretty excited about riding Mosport, and I cant wait to get back to Shannonville. This coming season is going to be awesome.

I propose we start our own unofficial - official CUNTrackday racing organization. Yes- this will be a clandestine group, with unique race classes / handicaps. There will be awards of guts, glory, and humiliation, for the fastest, slowest, best, worst, luckiest, for bikes, gear, and riders. Agreed, this will be stupid - but its making me laugh as I type, thinking of some of the (in)appropriate awards that could be given.

Cool! I'm a lock for the "SLOW AND FAT" award! ;-)

Seriously though, I am looking forward to the upcoming track season. Doing lots of little things to Suzi as mentioned earlier. Just picked up a gas tank camera mount from Kapscomoto. Bolts right onto the filler cap screws, so it's nice and solid. Will get some cool video I'm sure.

I like Mondays. Monday August 20th would be good, but man... $230... that's two track days anywhere else. Not so sure now that I want to do that this season. Honestly I enjoy Shannonville a lot more than Mosport, except for the drive.

Hmmm.... not sure if I should comment. LOL

Yea - $230 is crap... We'll have to see. I think I'll be in Alaska at the end of August - I'll check the dates with the wife and get back. Yes- a few open sessions at Shannonville would be pretty hard to beat.

Come on... I've already got few awards in mind for you..."Mad Scientist / Unproven Engineering Award", "Fastest SV650", and "Most consistent hair-cut"

And Tim is in the running for the "Smooth Operator" award for picking up motorcycle racing chicks.

Scuba Steve is looking at receiving " Inappropriate use of Ducati Tire Warmers"....

Seriously - we've got an endless ammount of material to draw on. This will be fun - until somebody gets offended...then it will be hilarious.

I think Dean's got the "Head Most Like a P*nis" locked up.... ;-)

But "Smooth Operator" does sound pretty slick...

HA! Fastest SV maybe when I'm the only one there. You haven't been to any Pro6 days yet ;) I got my hair cut last night, so that fits, and I just shaved off my month long facial dirt about an hour ago. LOL...

In order to receive this award you first need to succeed. hahaha...Actually, maybe we can set up a points system for you, so quality vs quantity in the long run could work out in some fair way.

Leave it to you to throw a wrench into things, Dave... jerk.... ;-)
Wonder if I can convince a few track day ladies to throw a dog a bone every once in a while... and get your mind out of the gutter on that one!!!! (if the "ladies" have a "bone" - there's definitely something wrong!)

I was gonna say... and now I will... shouldn't it be you throwing the ladies a bone?

I wonder if we'll end up having this moved to the romper room. hahaha

That was pretty clever Tim - I hope you didnt hurt yourself.
And your mom has also nominated me for "P*nis Most Like a Head" award.... ;)

See... now we're having fun...

Actually, it did hurt my brain a bit sinking to that level. *grin*

Looks like Dave's going to be the first to see Suzi in her almost completed glory. Of course, have a few things to do yet.

Can anyone suggest a really good drill bit good for drilling out a broken screw (no idea how far I'm going to have to drill)? Someone in Suzi's past broke a screw off deep inside the seat mount. Figure I'm going to have to drill it out (tried using a broken screw remover with no success) all the way, fill it with some JB Weld/aluminum powder or similar metal like putty, drill and tap it.

Or put a larger threaded ferrule in there and just use a larger bolt. I'll take a look at it tonight. Gotta live up to my "Mad Scientist / Unproven Engineering Award" titles. haha
