Kitchener/Waterloo area, c u next trackday riders thread!

Have any more thoughts on that GoPro gyro mount?
I was thinking that maybe a mercury switch would work instead of an accelerometer... Switch on left gets activated, stepper motor turns left.. reverse setup for turning right. Just not too sure if the switches would be accurate enough to cope with quick left-right transitions and with the bike's vibrations.

Just found this online...

Think something like this might be a good starting point?

Mercury switches are too unpredictable. It's easy to use an accelerometer and a tiny micro-controller with built in stepper motor control. The hardest part would be the mechanical stuff. I could likely mock it up with wood or billet plexi. haha... billet. ;)

Hmmm. Very interesting...
I tried a similar design for some sick POV / moneyshot angles... always had trouble with the taint mount though... ;)

Dave - did you have a look at that link I posted up? Everything looks to be in place there except the stepper motor.. even gives coding to control the whole shebang.
I think you could put a camera socket (for a tripod mount) on the bottom of the controller/stepper, and put the contraption on a gopro or gecko suction cup mount. If the camera would be mounted directly to the stepper, that should work fine...

Wicked wicked day today! Couldn't ask for a better day in October.

Hey Tim, got the bike??

Got the bike... in the garage now..
Needs a serious clean up job - to remove all that extra chain lube we saw... then peel all the stickers, sand, fix some bodywork spots here and there, prime and repaint!
Took it for a zip around my street (it's a court) when I got it home - turns in seriously fast. More than any other bike I've ever ridden. Pegs are crazy high too - have to get used to that for sure.

Glad to hear your track day went so well!

It won't be too long and I'll NEED to get a 600 again, eh? ;)

Yes. You know it. I see a heavily modded 2009 R6 in your future... (Then you can kick my ***** on the straights too, not just in the corners)

Although I wouldn't advise using my newly discovered cornering technique... I'm not trying that again...
Knee dragging = cool. Windscreen/body dragging = not cool.

Tim- wanna go splits on a fiberglass repair kit? Lol.

I seem to recall passing you down the front straight a few times on Saturday ;) I was getting a crazy good drive out of the last corner to pull that off.

I'll have to check what all I have in the rubbermaid bin at home. Pretty sure there are still some supplies there.

So, how's that rhubarb taste anyways? ;-)
Sure, we can go splits on a kit... I won't need much at all - just a couple square inches really...

Can't afford new tires right now...

You mean this 929?
